Wheelchairs are a life-changing lifeline for many disabled people. Why then, do they cost so much money - and why do disabled people have to put so much effort into paying for these things when we are socioeconomically disadvantaged in the first place?

There should be more wheelchairs with wheechairs functioning as fashion accessories, as well as being functional.

This situaiton is a disgrace.

Hmm true, but same could be said about lots of expensive medicine. I think it's partly a matter of if one thing would be free for the disabled people who needed it, then other disabled people would demand for their needs to be met for free as well.

Here it's in the law that public spaces and stores need to have some way to get people in wheelchairs in. They don't have to build ramps or the like to the main entrance, they can be at some side entrance or staff door, but there has to be some way in with a wheelchair.

There needs to be a lot more investment in the wheelchair economy.
