According to local news site, TNHoller, the vote to ban the book passed unanimously at the McMinn county school board meeting as members lined up to criticise the book for its supposedly graphic content.

Maus, a graphic novel serialized from 1980 to 1991, depicts author Art Spiegelman interviewing his father about his experiences as a Polish Jew and Holocaust survivor.

In 1992, it became the first graphic novel to win the esteemed Pulitzer prize for fiction, and remains the only cartoon to have won the award 30 years later.

they did not ban the book, they just did not included it in curricula.
two. different. things.
Book is still in the library, anyone interested can still read it.

I am aware of Maus. Being interested in Comic Books as a youth. Censorship is BS.

so, according to you, dropping the book from curricula but not from library is censorship.
explain me why it is censorship.
You know what is censorship? If book would be dropped from curricula, thrown out from library plus campaign that it should be banned from Amazon.

I hope we all remember that this isn't censorship the next time far-right media begins vomiting up another fake censorship scandal.

Sounds like censorship to me. What are they afraid of? It's just a comic book. And I don't recall it being particularly offensive in content. I guess it's their right to determine, curricula, I'm not aware of the inner workings of such matters, in school systems.

removing book from curricula does not mean they banned book from library. for xyz time.
