Whether you're right or left wing - Cancel Culture is only for losers.

There's absolutely no reason why people should be banned from public life because of their political opinions.

Name just one good reason why you cannot like a piece of art made by someone who have opposing political/religious views compared to your own values, provided you'd like that very same piece of art had the artist not expressed the political opinions of which you disagree with.

You need to provide just one GOOD reason. I can't find any.

I actually don't understand the term "cancel culture".

Nothing says I'm being censored like posting on several online platforms about it and doing the talk show circuit to complain about it.

Example:

Someone makes a piece of art. Everyone likes it.

The artist then write a political statement, totally unrelated to his art.

Then someone who previously liked his art, starts disliking it.

That's cancel culture in a nutshell.

I thought it was about abusing free trials.

So when people develop disdain for an artist based on their behaviour or opinions are they not allowed to lose interest in that person's art as a result?

It's just one of those things that I can't grasp. I know it's not difficult but I think it's the phrase that just doesn't sit well with me.

You may dislike as much art as you like, provided it's the art itself you dislike.
Disliking art based on who made it, makes you a loser though.

I hate nazis. I wish Hitler is burning up in hell for all eternity.
But I have no reason to dislike his art.

Simple: "Cancel Culture" is a 21st-century term for what used to be called "Ostracism".

Cancel culture is a modern form of ostracism in which someone is thrust out of social or professional communities; whether those communities are online (e.g., social media), corporate (e.g., "You're fired!"), or in person (e.g., "I don't know you").

"Ghosting" is a way of cancelling a personal relationship.

"Boycotting" is a corporate (or economic) way of canceling a business relationship.

"Banning" is a way of cancelling someone from a social website.

Another word for it is: Bullying.

Terrible logic. People can like or dislike art on whatever grounds suits them.

Wrong again.  Bullying is the repeated and habitual abuse of someone perceived as weaker, with the objective to aggressively dominate or intimidate the victim.

Cancelation is what happens when a bully is removed -- an "anti-bully" action.

Cancel culture is a pretty knucklehead idea if you ask me.
