Glad to see this happening. Congratulations Sofia.

Yep!

Considering the number of disabled folk is rising for whatever reason - I think this is going to be a niche industry eventually.

Personally I have a low opinion of the fashion industry, so it's hard for me to get excited about this, though I don't wish her any harm.

It is a shallow industry, but for me, any way for a disabled person to gain respect, even if for themselves, is a great option, even if left alone by disabled folk. :)

It's a very tricky area for me to talk about when somebody I feel I ought to support gets somewhere in a field of endeavour that in my eyes does a lot more harm than good. I'd feel much the same if she'd become the Pope or the leader of the Tory party. She'll no doubt be popular, and I guess that's not to be sniffed at, I just wish she'd picked a career more aligned with equality. Harmful sectors of society often acquire an underprivileged person to make themselves look like a force for good, while they continue to do harm. But I wouldn't want to say any of this to her.

Being a pope is an awesome career path.

Don't believe the Satanist propaganda.

I don't, I just strongly disapprove of spiritual authority, especially when the spiritual leader puts it about that it's selfish to keep pets instead of having children.

Well, the church can be a bit extreme in its views, particularly the Catholic church, but the very pinnacle of representation of the Catholic church has to consider everyone under his command (in terms of influence) - and he has to pay lip service to church-goers who believe their only purpose on Earth is to reproduce?

That doesn't mean the pope won't be willing to say different things along a timescale of Christian progression.

I have to wonder what the real message is . . .

“Look at us! We provide fashionable clothing for disabled people!

. . . or . . .

“Look at us! We use disabled people as fashion models!”

I would say the message functions as both of those things, regardless of the intention. People will interpret open-ended messages the exact way in which they want to, a lot of the time.

Sure, he's very likely said things I'd agree with. But one corker like that "selfish people keep pets instead of having kids" remark goes a long way with me. And if he only said it to ingratiate himself with those who think in that nasty, judgemental way, then that puts me off him too.

I personally don't focus in on small details of what people say. I look at what ideology they are representing. If that is Christianity or democracy, I will forgive almost anything, on an emotional level.
