Or rather, approx $40-50k USD:

Started a new thread specifically for this video instead of in the Ukraine conflict thread simply Because the video creator made a point of asking people to share this video where people in Europe may say it and may also share it Or it's message so that it may end up being heard by more Russians. I know there aren't tons and tons of Europeans on these forums, but more than zero, and the chances they'd see a new thread are higher than a single post in one more than a dozen pages long.

As for the content of the vid - it's nothing I've ever heard of really happening ever in war, although I admit I've never studied history much. Either way, seems like a reasonable plan, for all the reasons pointed out in the video - tons of these Russian soldiers Do Not Want to be there doing this thing At All.. so, Millions of rubles to walk away from putin's army and start a fresh new life sounds like a pretty good offer! I bet once word spreads there will be many that take the offer and live by it. I hope so, anyways.

Interesting tactic. To bribe soldiers of the invading army. Could be effective against a low morale army like Putin's invading force seems to be.

Way back in the Vietnam era Sixties a US senator took the yearly cost of waging the Vietnam war, and simply divided that figure by the number of enemy soldiers who supposedly died in battle that year. Thirty billion dollars divided by 100 thousand VC and NVA battlefield deaths. Resulting in 300 thousand dollars per enemy killed. So he concluded it "costs 300 thousand dollars to kill a man these days".

The political humor columnist Art Buchwald took that math and ran with it, and wrote a satirical piece about how the Pentagon has switched to using Mob hitmen who only charge 25K to whack someone, or ...offering Viet Cong who surrender...free tuition at Harvard, a home in the Hamptons, and "a lifetime membership in the country club of their choice". Hilarious stuff - but stuff that would be equal or cheaper than ...killing them in battle- according to the math.

So...this is essentially political satire of fifty years ago come to life. 8O
