yep, Germany without Russian natural gas is screwed. Germany with American liquid gas is in a confused state.
So, first: Russia doesn't actually have an awful lot but natural resources. If Russia were ever to become a wealthy democratic state, so the European, the Western hope, actually, it would maybe be like Norway. Well, that didn't happen, but keeping a destroyed country like Russia in the 90s in abject poverty wasn't going to make it into a Western nation either.
and yeah, the increasing tensions over the last decade did slow down pipeline construcions.
but those pipelines would have been necessary for an interim phase while transitioning to renewables.
Well, now the Germans have the worst option: expensive, environmentally catastrophic fracking gas and dependency on the US and their whims.
this is the best thing that could happen to the US, and more than one European leftie accuses the US of refusing compromises in peace-nogotiations for their own profit.
(I personally don't go that far)

Ya I remember the LNG Plants started being built around Corpus originally to import natural gas from foreign countries but then the Eagle Ford happened and they started getting ready for exports.Fracking is the actually good for the climate because the fracking in West Texas and New Mexico killed the coal industry in West Virginia and oil barons are working on uses for the flare gas.I have flared so much gas in my career buts only because nobody wanted it and nobody would buy it from me.I hope Germany relies on the Energy Basin and the Delaware Basin for a long time.I hope America does not compromise because we have leverage because of Texas .Its mujch better than relying on Russia Iran and Venezuela and Saudi Arabia
