This is an interesting mini-documentary from VICE News about how Christian missionaries are trying to reach uncontacted tribes in the Amazon of Brazil.
In fact, indigenous lawyer Elisio Marubo is suing the missionaries, claiming “They are invading our lands without our permission.”
Josiah McIntyre from Alabama was among those named in the lawsuit. At 9:10 in the video when asked what he thinks when indigenous people say missionaries don't benefit their communities he responded, "If that's the case then teaching them 2 + 2 is wrong." What? For thousands of years even during pre colonial times, natives held knowledge on various sciences including astronomy and biology. I think he is the one who needs to go back to kindergarten and learn what the word "no" means.
I'm Ashkenazi Jewish. My people were exiled from Spain if we refused to convert. Even still they try to convert but Jews aren't having it. Christians also appropriated Pagan traditions, like the Christmas tree and egg coloring to get the Pagans to convert. I love the holiday season and put up a tree, but I know it's not actually Christian. Some missionaries make people pray and read literature before providing people assistance like food and medical care not joking.
Here is a Facebook post from a Christian missionary's page.
Intercultural Ministries - Assemblies of God U.S. Missions wrote:
One of our missionaries, who serves and ministers to Native American, just sent in word that they and other missionaries and churches are receiving opposition from the reservation.
Effectively immediately, all missionaries and churches are banned from the reservation until further notice.
Please intercede on these missionaries' and churches' behalf, that God would open doors and provide a way for the Gospel to keep reaching the Native Americans.
They just admitted they can't take "no" for an answer.
Maybe not banned, but it should be made sure that they take no as an answer?
*knock knock* *door opens* "Are you interested in our lord and savior Super Man?" "No" "Okay, have a nice day!" *the missionary leaves, no harm done*
If it always went like this when no one was interested, we'd have no problem, would we? The problem is that they don't always leave. Maybe putting some heavy punishment on trying to push one's religion on others after they've already said "no" would help? Of course, then we'd face the problem of how to prove who said what, but the fear of punishment could scare some away at least...

I have some sympathy with the OP's view. I'd rather people respected each other enough to let them make their own minds up and think for themselves, but with religion, politics and advertising there's an awful lot of propaganda, which I think is arrogant and dishonest. Me, I just say what I think and freely admit that it's just my opinion and that I could be wrong. If people don't believe my assertions, that's up to them. I can't stand brainwashing.
