Sky News host Paul Murray says ‘Don’t run, Joe’ is the message from the “hard left” to US President Joe Biden.

I don't think Sky News is a particularily reliable source of information about internal matters and moods in the Democrat Party.

While I agree that seeking a good successor for Biden would be a good thing to try for the Dems (we don't know if Biden even lives to run in 2024), I wouldn't trust a politically aligned source for balanced information about their adversaries.

It depends on many things. If Trump runs again, Biden wouldn't be a bad choice. Against DeSantis, it would be a bit different. Against some unlikely centrist Republican, the balance would get completely different. And we can't predict Biden's state of health two years from now.
Too many unknowns to make final decisions now. Maybe Dems are precisely keeping their options open and their cards close to their chest - exactly to be able to react to many different possibilities.

Well...we now know what his campaign theme song will be.

The right has always... ALWAYS... underestimated Biden, much to their detriment.

That's a general problem of polarization: people don't really understand "the other side" and its dynamics any more.
Those who want agressive "alpha male" leaders, don't understand possible appeal of someone not like that. And the other way around.

I think it was a case of the Democrats having Trump on their side.
"Anyone but Trump", remember?

But also remember when during the Biden-Paul Ryan VP debate; everyone thought it would be a cakewalk for Ryan. But Biden cleaned the floor with him.
Regardless of the attitude of "anyone but Trump," the right's always underestimated Lunchbox Joe.

I actually rather like Biden, and think he's pretty sharp all things considered. But health is more likely to change quite rapidly at his age, so I'd somewhat prefer a younger person to run. I'm okay with Biden running, however, just not sure if it's optimal.

I don't think anyone besides Biden could beat Trump or DeSantis. If the Dems pick an extremist like Kamala or AOC, independents and moderate Dems will either stay home or reluctantly vote for the Repub.

There are myriad reasons why ppl are worried about Biden's cognitive abilities.
Biden needs to retire gracefully and let new political blood take over.
The same with Trump.

Perhaps. At least Biden hasn't stated yet if he'll run again or not, whereas Trump thinks he's owed a second term as his birthright.

Trump is a narcissistic egomaniacal fool.

Biden doesn't have to indicate we won't be contesting the next election.
Where would be the profit in that?
I bet your left testicle he won't run, though.

^^^
I consider that a possibility, but because Biden is enough of a mensch to admit his time's come and gone, and not because he has to be pressured out.

Assuming most politicians are corrupt:
Biden is less corrupt than Trump.
I'd prefer to know him than Trump.

At least we're in agreement on this point.
While I don't believe Biden's pure as the driven snow, I tend to think he's a stand up guy for the most part.
