I don't really consider anyone to be a "True" or "False" Democrat/Republican. Those labels just refer to membership in or ideological alignment with a certain party. The parties change their ideologies over the years, and that ideology is influenced by those who are part of that party or its constituents--among other factors.
Democrats have spent the last several decades being an anti-socialist, pro-capital liberal party. It strikes me as very odd to call such a person a DINO when just 10 years ago it was *much* more frowned upon for a politician to openly identify as a socialist.
It's an insult that suggests that True Democrats exist--a label which is used by primarily leftists who act like the Democrat Party has been primarily a vehicle for socialism and progressivism which...it has not. I'm a leftist and I roll my eyes at leftists who act like the Democrat Party is deserving of respect.

Those with power do what their power permits, and the weak can only acquiesce.
