To paraphrase Woody Guthrie "Instead of robbing you with a six gun France robs you with a fountain pen".



Its not all bad. France's military does help its "former" colonies fight Boku Harum (the African equivalent of ISIS).

I think that the remnant of the French empire is larger than the remnant of the British.

The French still have a chunk of South America, some islands scattered in the Caribbean and Indian Ocean, a couple of islands off the coast of Canada, plus lots and lots of islands in the Pacific.

So that's how they paid for Paris. Where would the great cities Europe be without stealing? Not that I've ever benefited from colonization (cough, cough)

I mean, does it matter if the natives had a civilization or if they were hunter gatherers? Either way they get their land stolen, get left in poverty and then get treated equally under the law.
