I have a local Canadian friend who's conservative in his political leanings, very pro business/self reliance/lower taxes etc vs. social spending yadda yadda ok that's fine we differ in opinion on tax policies and such. But he Also is a big fan of trump, even though trump's business record is horrendous and he plunged the USA further into debt than any other president ever, he doesn't understand that China never "paid tariffs," to the USA etc etc & he still claims trump is the greatest president ever blah blah blah.

I told him to watch the J6 hearings (I never did watch the last couple, maybe I'll listen to them sometime) and read (skim) the various indictments so he has an idea of what trump is accused of vs. what trump tells him he did and didn't do. I think he's one of those people that only listens to some trump speeches and believes what the guy says and that's that - even though he isn't nuts by any stretch of the imagination. He's actually a smart, educated, fairly high earning and successful man.. he just seems to be mesmerized by trump's cult-leader-like charisma.

I told him I'm worried about him having a brain break of some sort when trump gets convicted and sentenced and that I would be praying for his brain. lol I intentionally said it in a way that would get a laugh out of him, but I'm Also actually kinda serious.. I do believe trump will be convicted at least once. He's got 4 major cases (so far) and 91 charges.. most of them federal, and as I pointed out to my friend, the US feds have a 90% conviction rate because they don't bring cases they don't think they'll win. Waste of time/money etc. They charge what they're all but Certain they can make stick. It'd be nothing short of a miracle for trump to beat the odds one every single case and not be held accountable for Something. Whether he gets jail time or house arrest etc, who knows - former fixer Michael Cohen may be correct that trump will get house arrest because he's too much of a security risk for information leaking to put in jail.

Anyways, while it may be months or even a few short Years away yet, eventually trump is going to face consequences for his crime spree while in office and after he was fired.. and I do wonder how people like my friend are going to process it. Will they just be shocked and depressed over their leader bean going down? Or are they actually going to suffer some sort of more severe break from reality ? :? Maybe a mixed bag. And I'm guessing there will be some, that are already nuts, who lose their minds and go full suicide by cop like a few others so far - ones that are so far down the rabbit hole there's no bringing them back to reality.. ones that will believe to their own bitter end that trump won the 2020 election and all of this is persecution and election interference vs. prosecution and justice.

It's concerning. There have got to be a LOT of people like my friend who're bound to suffer some sort of unpleasant event when faced with the fact that their idol is a convicted felon losing his freedom. It's going to be a weird time navigating that for all. Hopefully they just sort of grumble about it and move on as if their favourite team lost a big tournament or something. But some of them are going to break/snap.. IMO.

"How Will Trump Supporters Process His Convictions?"

Simple. They won't.

It will all still be a "hoax", proof of "liberal fascism", everything will still have been a "witch-hunt", and their precious leader will be treated like a martyr who's been "falsely" imprisoned.

Probably right.

And then they will donate money to donnie jr who will claim he’s using the money to get trump out of jail while he continues to live the high (on cocaine) life on suckers’ dime.

My money is on another attempt at violent insurrection, occupation, and takeover of the government.

That's one of the reasons I moved out of the U.S.  Another is that Americans group themselves socially based on what or whom they hate, and Trump hates anyone who is not a wealthy supporter of his campaigns or a white supremacist.

I only hope there will be an America to go back to if I ever need to return.

Just a reminder: under international law, an occupying power has no right of self-defense, and those who are occupied have the right and duty to liberate themselves by any means possible.

I dunno.. I mean, I’m sure that troll trumplestiltskin would LOVE to do another stochastic terrorism and get a whole herd of single digit IQanon types to tear s**t down in his name.. buuuut, with the leadership of the first batch of cult 45 followers getting decades of prison time to reflect on their actions, it’s less likely there’ll be another whole batch of lemmings ready to fling themselves off a cliff for him.

Might just fizzle out and fade away save for a few more loan wolf types the FBI/Secret Service/Capitol Police etc might have to put down.

Time will tell just how many morons never learn, I guess.
