A few days ago, I received both of the used Dirk Gently detective novels that I ordered from eBay sellers.

While in a "K-Hole" (A deep, intense, altered state of consciousness that can be the result of the use of Ketamine as a therapy for depression / anxiety / PTSD, etc.), I became obsessed with the idea that I had to read both of these novels again.

Both of them had such an effect on me when I was a kid. I read them over and over. But it has now been decades since I last cracked a cover on these, and I'm about to dive deep into this amazing world, once again...

There is no better illustration of the idea of the "fundamental interconnectedness of all things" than to be in a k-hole and start thinking about these novels...
;-)

I highly recommend them, especially if you're already a fan of Douglas Adams, but have not yet had the pleasure of reading these works of art...

I liked the "Hitchhikers" books, and both of the movies made from them. And back in the early 80s I saw the Dirk Gently novel in hard back on display in the college bookstore when it was just out. Was intrigued that Adam Douglas had a new novel out, and I was amused at the idea of a "holistic" Seventies version of Sam Spade. Thought Id wait unti it came out in paperback, but then never heard about it again and never got around to reading it.

There's also at least one TV series based on these books.
I started watching this series on Amazon Prime.
What I've seen so far has been pretty good:
