Cenk Uygur running for president as Democrat
“I’m going to do whatever I can to help him decide that this is not the right path,” Uygur, 53, told Semafor, as he prepared to file for the 2024 Nevada primary. “If he retires now, he’s a hero: He beat Trump, he did a good job of being a steward of the economy. If he doesn’t, he loses to Trump, and he’s the villain of the story.”
The founder of The Young Turks media channel had repeatedly urged Biden to quit the race, calling his re-election bid “intensely selfish,” and warning that it made a Trump victory likelier.
He’d urged “at least a dozen people” to enter the race before deciding to try for it himself, as “proxy” for Democratic opposition to Biden, focusing on “popular issues” like a higher minimum wage, a “public option” for healthcare, and paid family leave.
“It isn’t like I have giant policy disagreements with Biden,” Uygur said. “I actually intend to fight for those incredibly popular policies and pass them. Biden hasn’t tried that, because his donors don’t want him to.”
Uygur was born in Istanbul, and immigrated to the United States from Turkey in 1978, but believed that the Constitution’s “natural born citizen” clause wouldn’t disqualify him from running. The issue would end up in the Supreme Court, he said, and be a “slam dunk” victory.

Does he have ANY experience relevant to the job of President, other than being a "pundit"?
Hopefully he'll be challenged on this soon, so this issue can be settled soon.

Like tooooons of polticians, he went to law school. So he’s at least knowledgeable about laws and the legal system and such - which is helpful when creating/passing laws.

Well, that makes him better qualified than Trump was in 2016.
Still, people who run for President really should have at least some prior experience with being elected officials of some kind, either in Congress or as state governors (or perhaps mayors of large cities like NYC), IMO.

This thread is the first I've heard of him running. At least he's doing it vs. just criticising others for not. Maybe he's serious about his ideals and convictions, maybe he's only doing it for the same reasons that troll, trumplestiltskin, initially ran - shameless self promotion. He owns "The Young Turks," media broadcasting company. It could just be to boost viewership & only subscriptions to his YouTube channels. Could be - but I think he's at least a more serious candidate than trump EVER was.

Maybe maybe not. I'm sure there have been other inexperienced presidents besides trump that weren't a flaming garbage dumpster s**tshow and I'm sure there will likely be again.

Who does he appeal to? A lot of further left leaning folks started losing respect for Cenk and TYT around when Ana started losing her s**t over the term 'birthing person'.
Supposing they hadn't lost that respect already.
That's his base, who else is left to vote for him?
