My guess is:

1) She's too associated with Black or Feminist identity politics in many people's minds.
2) She's seen as too similar to Hillary Rodham Clinton, America's most revived politician.

What else or am I wrong?

Black and feminist identity politics don't seem too popular in the US especially. Even moderates or some democrats don't like that kind of thing, let alone republicans. So those factors could definitely make a political candidate unpopular.

Has she done anything noteworthy during her time in office? The VP's job is to be in the background until needed to pull focus away from the president. (Aside from a few cerimonial duties)

I remember people calling her out for wanting to support weed legalization during the election. She said that she listened to Tupac and Snoop Dog while smoking weed, but those albums she claimed to have listened to were not out yet. She also had a bunch of people arrested/jailed for weed crimes at a higher rate than someone else in her position, but few were actually sent to prison.

I dunno, weird little things like that.

Yeah I remember that from the 2020 Primary, I had forgotten. Prosecutor may not be a good career choice for somebody hoping to rise in the Democratic Party. Thanks for the reminder.

She's unpopular with different groups for different reasons. Much of it does come down to her record as CA attorney general, sexism, racism, and Identity Politics, though not for the reasons you might expect (generalization warning ahead):

Leftists don't like her because they see her as complicit in the prison industrial complex. She has a very spotty record as attorney general of California. She stylized herself as a "progressive prosecutor" and did indeed make some efforts to improve the criminal justice system in Cali, but there were plenty of other instances where she stepped in to uphold the status quo (resisting releases of prisoners later found innocent, resisting releases on the basis of overcrowding, upholding prison slave labor, downplaying the role of racism in police brutality, etc.) This article goes into greater detail.
While many on the right hate Kamala because of identity politics, virtually everyone i have met on the left hates her because she plays that card at all. Her choice as VP felt insulting--like Biden could pick a black woman as his running mate as if we would just forget his and her questionable records on race like wide-eyed children.

Moderates in both parties dislike her because she is seen as yet another coastal elite, insider establishment-type who exploits identity politics for her own benefit.

Conservatives hate her because she is a democratic VP, and they hate identity politics as a whole. And for the same reasons many moderates hate her for being a coastal elite.

Right-wingers hate her for reasons which are pretty obvious.

This leaves Harris with precious few demographic/ideological groups that actually like her. Mainly the less socially-conscious liberal who sees a black woman in power and feels obligated to like her without questioning her record.

This could require a lengthy list, but being a terrible politician whose only achievement has been failing upwards until the Democrats needed a diversity hire for their VP pick (not a smear, that's their own rationale for picking her) is probably high on the list.

I heard her name back when she got the job, but I have no idea what she looks like. I've not heard anything about her since the election, never seen her on the news, and haven't heard of anything she's done for women, minorities, or anyone else with or without Biden's support.

Mind you, I don't watch news  , but stuff usually finds its way to me regardless. With her it didn't.

Here is some actual footage of Kamala Harris speaking.

On one hand...yeah...you can see the exotic good looks and charisma that she is known for, but...

The things coming out of her mouth?

Do you really want a chief executive who talks like this?

Yeah, her word salads are very impressive for someone apparently young and in good mental health, Joe at least has the excuse of age (though he's been saying gibberish since at least the 80s).

No, that really isn't a smear.
To hammer this point home, I am complete opposite end of the aisle from Dox, but I concur on this. Virtually no one was pleased or fooled by this transparent, insulting, self-congratulatory, half-assed, insincere pandering.

Are there any autistic or ND candidates?

Why is Kamala Harris so unpopular in the US?

• Female
• "Person of Color"
• Intelligent -- Independent Thinker
• Educated -- Political Science, Economics, and Law
• Pro-Environment Interests
• 90-percent conviction rate for all felony gun violations
• Pushed for higher bail for criminal defendants involved in gun-related crimes
• Created a Hate Crimes Unit, focusing on hate crimes against LGBT children and teens in schools
• Sponsored legislation to ban gun shows
• Favors life without parole over death penalty
• Member of the Democratic Party
• . . . and other initiatives and interests favoring the basic rights of citizens against predatory corporate practices.

In simpler terms, she is the embodiment of everything the toxic, conservative, right-leaning, white, male establishment hates.  Sadly, this hatred has tainted other social interest groups and their perceptions of her.

LOL, this is parody, right?

Check her numbers with liberals, they're not too fond of her either.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone actually like being pandered to? The progressive left seems to like it, demand it even, but there seems to be pockets that cringe, like even SNL periodically skewers it. This is one of those areas where I'm genuinely curious because my own reaction to pandering is very negative, even when it's attempting to flatter my demographic it just feels condescending and manipulative, but I'm aware that I'm weird about a lot of stuff like that.
