What would it be?
Rule 1: You can only warn them of one thing.
Rule 2: You can't choose what someone else posted.
Rule 3: You can travel as far back as your country's founding, but no further.
Rule 4: You're limited to just your country.
Rule 5: You're only allowed to warn them of what's to come within the next 10 years from what year you travel to.
Rule 6: If you travel to your country's founding, your warn limit is 100 years.
Rule 7: If you travel to a moment of a great historical achievement, your warn limit is 50 years.

I know a lot of people will go for this one so I'm getting it out of the way first.
I'd go back to 1999 and warn people of the September 11 terror attacks.

Choose something different and keep it interesting.

I would tell them to cancel all music festivals in southern Israel in October 2023.

I would tell them to change, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed" to "A well-armed Citizenry, being necessary to self-defense in the home and to the security of a free State against insurrection, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, but not artillery or weapons of mass destruction, shall not be infringed".

I would warn authorities to detain Marc Lépine and tell students not to attend school on 6th December, 1989.

I'm not sure how far back I'd have to go, but I'd warn people not to let foreign billionaires, e.g. Rupert Murdoch, take over our media and spread their poisonous lies to people. Media should be owned by ordinary companies with an unbiased agenda.

Since there's not a whole lot else to warn Canadians about, I'd travel back to maybe around 1965ish and warn/inform my entire extended family (on both sides) of what was going to happen to our real estate market after the year 2000 or so so that they could all triple down on working, saving up down payments, and buying multiple properties each. Besides the economics of what's to come, I'd literally hand them a prewritten business plan playbook for them to follow on how to go about doing what would then set their families up for damned near dynastic level intergenerational wealth, freeing their children & grandchildren and beyond from the burdens of work and renting so they're all able to become highly educated and choose whatever path they'd like to contribute to society in.

So many older folks say "If we had only known.." (then they would have bought more homes/properties/buildings in certain areas at certain times vs. believe them to be too expensive at the time and not worth it.) Then people would be Set for life & beyond - multiple generations would be taken care of for the efforts of one generation making the right purchases at the right time.

I bet this would be a very common back-in-time-warning for people where I'm from as we all now know the difference it would make if our parents/grandparents had any clue as to what was going to happen.

Sounds very sensible, Goldfish.

I'd definitely work and save as much money as I could. When I worked full time, I thought I couldn't afford anything and worried about money. How deluded. I should have started saving from as young as possible.

At least I'm making sure my daughter does that, I've learned that much. We always hope our children are going to do better than we did.
