Angry Tory right-wingers on Thursday demanded action from Rishi Sunak after new figures showed net migration had hit a record level of 745,000.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said revised statistics put net migration to Britain higher than previously thought in the year to December 2022. However, the figure for the year to June 2023 was estimated to be lower at 672,000.

And I thought the likes of Farage said coming out of the EU would help this. Where are a population the size of Birmingham per year supposed to live?

This is the reason why the Labour Party, with their relaxed immigration policy, lose so many votes and have been until recently, unelectable (at least in part).

Now, the Conservatives have been seen to be just as bad as, if not worse than Labour in terms of their immigration policies, despite their blustering rhetoric about "sending back the boats".

They aren't actually committed to doing anything serious regarding lowering immigration numbers and thus, because their policies in other areas are so terrible, there is really no reason for anyone to vote Tory, unless you are a wealthy person, which most people are not.

That's because, dumb as they are, they do know that the low wage economy they thrive on only works when you have plenty of people prepared to work for low wages. That means immigrants and plenty of them.

Or, get some of those lazy disabled people off their arses as Jeremy Hunt suggested this week.

You can only do that once though. Then you're back to square one. Say they got the number on benefits down to 1.5 million. Then there still won't be enough workers for low skilled jobs in the long term.

Yeah, I read about Jeremy Hunt's announcements. On one article I read he was there smiling with his stupid briefcase, whilst announcing the inevitably damned fate of certain disabled folk.

I would love to have slapped his image, reading that article.

Indeed! Half the Tories love immigration because it provides factory fodder and drives wages down. Overcrowding isn't their personal problem because they've got big private houses with massive grounds and security to keep the peasants out. The other half of the Tory party hates immigration - or pretends to - because they're trying to give the appearance of representing the racists who vote for them. Admittedly the views I've just expressed are somewhat glib and over the top.

I dislike all those motives for and against immigration. I also dislike the way they import people and dump them into unsuspecting neigbourhoods without lifting a finger to prepare the indigenous population for the change, let alone ask their permission. I don't dislike individual immigrants just for being immigrants. I'm concerned about overcrowding wherever it comes from. My house is so full of items that I have a rule, don't bring it in until you know where it's going to live. It would seem logical to do that with immigration and reproduction. But they probably won't, can't, and shouldn't.

SUMMARY: I have no answers.
