Probably because Reagan is seen as god-like by many on the right. Or at least was.

One one hand, Reagan hated black people and mentioned God an adequate number of times. On the other hand, Reagan supported gun control, which does not sit well with the mostly redneck/hillbilly MAGAs.

Just goes to show, conservatives are not a monolith. Also there's no honour among thieves and crooks.
