All this talk about controlling influences here, the conversations in the love and dating thread, it really reminds me of how sad it is how much we all waste eachother's lives, time, energy, all over the fact that were all so closed minded as a race that we can't just 'be'. Yeah, society takes some degree of cohersion and push to keep things afloat but I really think that we as a society go well above and beyond the mark in creating pitfalls that just don't need to be there. Lives end up trapped, good people who have a LOT to offer destroyed by the whole mess, its pathetic.

At this point I don't care if we're fundamentally animals, souls or no souls, its just really sad for the degree of cognition we have, the degree of emotions, the depth that we feel things too, the gain of wisdom through age, etc. etc. that stupidity has our potential as people to be our best selves so held down and regulated. I mean everyone, us, NT's, its like you really wanna smack the people senseless who are causing the problems but at the same time its let on that you don't have the right...

Christians would say it is our "fallen human nature" that causes us to be so contentious with each other.

I guess I can see a problem between stated premises and action but beyond that there cannot be waste as there is nothing to compare waste to other than a moral ideal which cannot be rationally established.

I agree it is very sad, people are very far away from where they could be, I think you are lucky if you even realise that - most people don't.

I see it and I am trying real hard to re-arrange my life accordingly at the moment.
