Will 'Crazy Cat Ladies' be this election's 'deplorables'?

When Hillary Clinton referred to much of Trump's support coming from a bucket full of deplorables it did quite a bit of damage to her election chances (whether or not you personally agree with the comment).

Does anyone think J.D. Vance's attacks on childless people as crazy cat ladies with no investment in America's future (and his repeated doubling down) will have similar effects when it comes to motivating people to vote against the ticket he's on?

Maybe some, but not the women. Like if I was still single I'd love to have cats...but I am not even so me and my boyfriend also want cats, he wants cats to. And also there are a bunch of single guys with cats, are they crazy cat ladies? Not to say a crazy cat lady does not exit there probably are those...but it is stretch to act like that is what all childless people will be. There are also just normal people who own multiple cats.

Like me and my boyfriends plan is a couple kitty cats and a pug and idk maybe a second pug, but no kids...does that make us sad cat ladies? If so I guess me and him both are proud to be sad cat ladies.

It seems like in J.P. Vance's eyes anyone who's childfree but not petfree is a crazy cat lady.

He probably has even worse labels for those who are both childfree and petfree.

I think he's pissing off a lot of people who don't have kids, even people who mostly agree with him (like the one chud from Barstool Sports).

I don’t see it having much or any effect because it seems pretty minor in comparison to other things that were said and done by Trump and Co. People who were unfazed by other stuff will probably just laugh or shrug this off.

idk who JD Vance is or why he'd say something so stupid, but I hope whoever he is it will cost him some votes.

We need protestors to show up dressed as cat ladies at protests, if he comes to speak in Colorado me and my boyfriend may go as cat ladies..ha ha get some little stuffed kitties to throw at him....and then wait for the MAGAs to say we tried to murder Trump with plushie cat paws.

Well f**k those people, they also don't acknowledge men who don't want to have kids....like that is part of why me and my boyfriend got together is because we both don't want kids, not because I don't and he is going along with it...he also actively does not want to have kids either, like we both brought that up early as a dealbreaker like almost at the same time 'but if you want kids this wont work out, but yeah we agreed neither one of us want them and if I got pregnant then we get an abortion. I mean yeah if somehow getting pregnant changed my mind we'd do our best to raise the kid but pretty sure I'd be on board with abortion if I got pregnant since I don't want a kid. My sister and her husband want one so if they do have one I'd be willing to be a cool aunt, but I will not be making a cousin for them to play with in my uterus.

Do you want an amazing rescue kitten? I passed really competitive screening but then my son pulled the plug by saying no at the last minute. I'm still thinking of ways I can just get her anyway, and let someone else have her. I could visit daily at least once. All vaccines and spay are free.

I'm going to say no.

Reason being, the outrage that followed the depolarables comment was because it fed in perfectly to the right-wing sense of being victims and the angle was that the sneery elite's mask of civility had momentarily dropped. It proved everything they suspected and was perfect for Fox News to run with.

I don't think the left will make as big a thing of it because the right, and the hard right particularly, don't pretend to be anything better than this. The left expects it from them, the hard right laughs at it. There is no 'story' here.

I think you're mistaken if you're believing it's "the left" that will be hostile to it. It's childless moderates I'd anticipate who are likely to be offended by Vance's sneering, dismissive and hostile rhetoric.

The left can't be dissuaded further from voting for Trump, moderates can be.

It's another example of how the GOP is beholden to creepy weirdos who want to dictate what people do in their bedrooms. They don't believe childless Americans are really invested in their country.
