Why haven't things got better since the pandemic?

Since "normality" started easing after the pandemic, it doesn't feel like anything has got better as I thought it would.

There have been wars in Ukraine, Gaza and now Israel and Iran are not fighting one another along with another 50+ conflicts currently going on in the world. I don't what's going on in other countries but there doesn't seem to be anything positive going on here in the UK, I don't really watch the news now but I still hear about cost of living, price rises and so on. They are saying we don't have enough money when we are supposed to be one of the wealthiest countries in the world.

The Scandinavian countries are apparently richer than us now when I thought we were in front of them in terms of wealth and so on. When I was in Copenhagen it felt like everyone and everything was going well and things were better and I forgot what it was like in the UK. Maybe I'm wrong and looking at it with rose tinted glasses.

But I still hear how people will say there has never been a better time to live than in previous generations who lived through world wars, a cold war and so on.
