I don't actually think true altruism exists

I don't think there's anything wrong with this but it's just the way I see it

I think people do truly want to offer help but I still feel there's an element of self indulgence to it

What do you reckon

Altruistic people enjoy helping others, acting unselfish, making the world a better place and not taking credit for the good things they do. Strictly speaking you could then say that they act out of self interest when they help others. But I think that kind of twisted argument is mostly used by selfish and cynicial people to make less feel bad about themselves.
