As you can see in the following video Jewish form of slaughter is a very painful way of killing animals:

On the other hand, regular slaguther is very quick and painless.

So do you think Jewish slaguther needs to stop while regular (painless) one should keep going? Or do you think killing animals is wrong, period, where painful or not

kosher....not jewish.

and if i'm not mistaken, muslims have similar restrictions/laws with regards to the treatment and killing of animals as well as a no-pork thing.

There is nothing wrong with abstaining from pork (I abstain from pork myself for religious reasons). The only thing I am talking about is the slaughter.

Although there are organizations and individuals who are concerned about the welfare of animals most of the world and especially a good many religious people who feel their traditions are a prime consideration simply don't care.

sorry, i must not have made myself clear....kosher is more than just the abstinance from pork. it's a whole set of laws regarding the treatment of animals before slaughter, how food must be handled and cooked.....it's more than just avoiding pork and if i'm not mistaken, muslims have a similar set of laws as the kosher laws....which most likely also includes laws on treatment and slaughter.

not that i don't agree that such laws are silly and foolish...but it's more than just jews...and not even all jews follow that anyways (specifically refering to the slaughter laws).

You keep missing the point. The fact that it is being done is bad, period, whether it be Jews or muslims or whoever.

I think that all slaughter of animals should be allowed so long as there is no slaughtering of other people's animals.

says you, i got that point...i was trying to make the point that just saying it's a jew thing isn't fair to jews who don't follow such practices and it leaves out others who do participate in such rites.

i agree it's a bad thing but religion in general is a pretty crummy thing...so to complain about one small itty bitty speck of a dot of a corner of it just seems kinda petty.

Oh man, I thought this was about slaughtering
people. Ah well, killing is good, either way.

EDIT: well, I don't have a quicktime viewer,
so I can't see this, but commercial slaughter is
NEVER pleasant. I eat meat, and am too cheap/lazy
to get it where I should though, so I don't complain
to mightily.

Clearly you've never tried to get an animal out of the trailer at a slaughter house. Its nothing like transporting them barn to barn. Any farmer will tell you that the animals know they are going to die. It often takes the farmer plus 3 or four others to get a pig/cow out of the trailer and inside.
