Well, this doesn't really have anything to do with the topic, but I think it's pretty funny. I subscribe to Mike's Funnies on my email account, which consists of clean, often funny jokes; well, here's a Funny from a couple days ago:

today'sFUNNY===========================

A groom wanted to surprise his bride on their wedding day so he
arranged with the bakery to have a Bible verse inscribed on the
cake.

He chose 1 John 4:18, which reads: "There is no fear in love.
But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with
punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love".

But the baker, not being familiar with the Bible, got the verse
wrong and on the day of his wedding the groom was surprised to
find the cake inscribed with John 4:18, which read: "You are
right when you say you have no husband. The fact is, you have
had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your
husband."

today'sTHOT============================

Many girls like to marry a military man...he can cook, sew, and
make beds and is in good health, and he's already used to taking
orders.

=======================================

PASS IT ON!
Yeah, you can send this Funny to anybody you want. And, if
you're REAL nice, you'll tell them where you got it!

The government criminalising prostitution brings about most of the social disorder and as long as you wear a condom then having sex is proven to be good for your health.

but its against Gods law in the sence that you are speaking of it in.

I dont believe it is because the bible is a man-made work of fiction imo.

I never thought I'd come across anyone else who believed that! 8O

The things that lead me to believe that is:

1. The fact of the blatant disrespect of women. If "god" supposedly loves all his creations and is so good, why does he treat women/allow women to be treated like sh*t?

2. The bible, in many places, portrays a supposedly loving and good god as a wrathful, angry monster.

3. Countless areas where th bible contradicts itself.

The Bible being the "inspired word of God" is still filtered through the minds of mere mortals and as such is prone to the foibles of those who penned the words. Patriarchs of patriarchal societies will embue patriarchal sentiments, spinning beyond the essence of God's intent, imo.

Toatally agree tokaia. Another thing if god knows everything that everyone says and does then why did he ask that guy (sorry cant remember his name) to kill his son right up until the moment he nearly does it then god says something like 'its ok man no need to do it i was just testing your love for me'. Why ask someone to go through that if you knew he would obey already and why do it anyway unless you were twisted. Im not going to worship a god like that even if it did exist.

God did that to provide a human example (and a prophesy for Jesus' sacrifice that was to come) so we could understand why he sacrificed Jesus, and (possibly) how hard it was. That's just what I believe, though.

This reminds me of a conversation I had with some friends once:

Friend 1: yadda yadda, when God killed the first-born son of every family, which if you think about it, was a pretty sh***y thing for God to do
Friend 2: Notice how God seemed to do a lot of crappy things back in the day?
Me: Yeah, and then He converted to Christianity.

:wink:
