I'm doing a report and I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what the difference is between the roman catholic church and the other Christian denominations.

The modern Roman Catholic church is the modern-day descendant of the ancient Roman state church. All denominations considered Protestant split off from it (eg. during the Reformation), but the relations between the Roman Catholic and Orthodox churches are more complex. That's about all I know.

Sexual abuse taking place in the church and those that would conspire in silence - http://www.priestsofdarkness.com/pd-index.html

But don't be fooled into thinking it only happens in the Catholic Church.

It seems a poor response of the Catholic Church to its problems of mistreating children that other people mistreat children too. After all, the Catholic Church sets itself up as a source of morality.

So do other churches. I don't think one religion should be blamed for all the bad things. No matter who abuses children, it is evil.

There are over 1700 Christian denominations. The most significant denominational difference, in terms of overall size, is between the Roman Catholic and Protestant views. Therefore, I will only comment on this particular difference.

The Roman Catholic Church believes:
1. That the way to salvation is through faith AND good works.
2. That ordained priests, formally educated in the history and interpretations of the Bible, are the only ones knowledgeable enough to properly interpret the "Word of God."
3. That the church can only be organized and directed by ordained priests.

The fundamental Protestant beliefs are:
1. That the way to salvation is by faith alone.
2. That every man has the right to interpret the Bible for himself.
3. That the church is the whole community of Christian believers.
