Actually, I am half Libertarian (the half that says the Government should not control your life) and half Socialist - I think Society should help those unable to make it on their own.

I am strongly opposed to Capitalism. I think it is an evil system, in that it rewards people for being greedy. Marx said it best, "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs."

Of course, this system won't work work today, people must change first. While that may not be possible, if we don't change then we will soon become extinct.

And socialism rewards people for being lazy. Is there any way of preventing either?

Because I'm not the most liberal of people, and believe that some people need protecting from themselves. Society needs to be reformed.

Actually, what is more surprising is that I used to either be in his position or more extreme than it. I think a major difference though is that I don't have as many left wing tendencies as I did have authoritarian ones.

Enough stupid? That was one of the most insightful comments on the current economic system that I have heard.

Hmmm.

What would you call "authoritarian"?

I'm not for intruding on individual freedoms except as a matter of security, justice, and safety.

I'm also wondering if my position on cannabis is well-placed. I view most recreational drugs as symbols of decadence and despair. But such a stance on cannabis may be contradictory and unfair. Considering that I think smoking tobacco should be gradually banned, but alcohol should remain legal, what is there against legalising cannabis if it's only a small minority who suffer bad side effects? (pending further evidence for or against). Something like a general health warning on packets of the stuff ought to suffice, along with a reasonable price for the legal supplies. If withdrawing from whatever international conventions on narcotics is neccessary, then so be it. The nasty drugs would still remain illegal. And the use of cannabis wouldn't exactly be promoted, either. It would only be the choice presented without forcing people to go underground to get such things. Perhaps a trial period of 2-5 years, then a final review on the subject. 18+ minimum age, as well. However, I'm not certain either way.
