ok you know the thing ive noticed in the last 6 or so years is the medias increasingly involvement in politics, i mean why? arent they supose to be objective and all and just report the news? some examples are; fox news is for the right wingers and msnbc is for the lefties. has anyone else noticed this discusting trend?

i think people are much more maluable if there are only two gangs to chose from, what do you think?

All the MSM in the US is biased towards the right, there is no "liberal media."

The MSM is mostly owned by large corporations like GE and get revenue from other large corporations advertising their goods and services, so there the MSM will, simply because of how corporations function, have a bias towards political positions that are good for the corporate elite. A corporation's only responsibility is to maximize shareholder profit, the end result is that a network like NBC becomes a propaganda tool for manipulating public opinion in a way that maximizes GE's (which owns NBC) profits. So, for example, GE has contracts with the Department of Defense and thus has in interest in manipulating public opinion towards supporting the Iraq war, and that thus biases NBC's news coverage.

I think both "liberals" and "conservatives" likely each run their own networks, be it media, entertainment, music, etc. "Left" and "right" wings, know one ever asked what the wings belonged to, heh, it's really all just one fascist ideology split in two.

Then again the only thing I don't like about the whole of conservative TV and radio is just how much one man - Rupert Murdock, is coming to own. If they had a more diverse mix of people it would be a better thing IMO but it kinda bugs me when one man has that much wield in the say of it all.

Kinda more like just trying to reassert what you started with. Still - colleges, most news papers, CNN, NBC, ABC, NPR, most major colleges - you aren't doing bad for yourselves.

There's also Dennis Pragher, Paul Medvid, Laura Ingrahm, lots of people out there. I think the only one I really listen to much and really like his logic is Pragher.

Lessee: Rather was 'presented' with clearly faked documents damning Bush's National Guard service, and didn't bother to thoroughly check the provenance of either the documents or their source. Rather had on numerous occasions voiced his distaste for the President in no uncertain terms, and he was apparently in a big hurry to break the story before the 2004 election. While CBS producers (aka: MSM) staunchly defended Rather's "journalist integrity", the 'new media' (aka: bloggers) pounced.

When Rather was preparing the 'story', the expertise of four forensic document experts was asked. Three told him the documents were fake. He dismissed their concerns as those of "partisan political operatives." CBS producers supported this decision.

I don't think the media is any more or less involved in politics as it has been in the past.

There have always been media sources that take one side or another.
