I've spoken to plenty of Christian extremists, and I've spoken to a few people who appear to be muslim extremists, one of whom was on this forum. I can tell you there is little difference. Muslims seem to have a very "big brother" or orwellian way of viewing god, "submission to god", an acronym for mindless conformity to society, in these theocratic regimes free thinkers or individuals, or anyone presenting thought or behavior "outside the box" is deemed "evil". The guy on here has openly stated "free will can not co-exist with god".
Christians are the same way though really, anyone who criticizes the government is "evil", anyone who is either a free thinker --OR-- a liberal (theyr NOT the same thing) is "evil", anyone who disagrees is "evil". It's just another mindless conformity cult. People are swept in through guilt and fear of "burning in hell".
Apparently both these cults have one strong belief in common, that human society should be a maniken factory. That individualistic identity should be discouraged.

No, that's a Sunni-type basically. The extreme ones are usually Shi'ite Muslim. Can't say for sure about the member. As for the free will part that would be considered ultracalvinistic and sounds like an excuse for bad behavior.

Uh... what the heck?

Not at all. Being a good citizen, which Christianity encourages, is being active in government. Can't say I've done much more than vote and write to a few congressmen, but blindly accepting a bad situation is not something Christians are supposed to do. Shaking fists, shooting people (outside of being in the military or self defense), bombing buses, hijacking vehicles, destroying things to make a point, no we're not allowed to do that.

We are free to think, but some things are wrong to think: murder, bestiality, pedophilia, incest, etcetera. Yes, thinking thoughts that approve of such things are wrong too. Is that really a problem?

snake321 wrote:

If they approve and practice what the Bible teaches against, how can they claim to accept the Bible as the authority in their life?

snake321 wrote:

Wrongo. All are sinners, but it is Christ that redeems us and calls us to be free and by His shed blood we are declared no longer evil.

Whatever.

Really? That's the only reason you think we have?

More manure.

Monotheism?

And another brave strawman concluded.

The Christian type would probably explode too if they lived in the same economic circumstances and lack of national reputation and red tape to keep them from doing so, like the muslims. Try telling the Christians they HAVE to live in a secular, non-partisan system where laws aren't passed based on their personal beliefs and theyr no longer allowed to force their religion on society, throw in a depression which is heading our way, and viola, you'll probably have christian suicide bombers.

I think they are very similar.

It's just a matter of one deciding it's their turn to hold the reins of the world.

Suicide and murder are both sins. I don't see Churches sanctioning that or Christians doing that in Columbia doing that, nor in Israel, nor in the Phillipines, nor in Mexico, nor in Russia, nor in China, etcetera. Christians just don't do that; it is forbidden. We may fight in armies, but terrorizing and torturing and mutilating are things we just don't do.

I rather thought it was forbidden for Muslims too but there's at least one branch who don't think so.

Both are unbacked doctrine, and that's enough to keep me away.

I think Dr. Gunn would disagree with that.

Obviously you missed the part where I said it was only economic conditions, international reputation defense, and red tape that stopped Christian fanatics from doing the same things. Which was, the entire post you quoted.

Lets see, Timothy McVeigh, Eric Rudolph, the halucaust, slavery, inquisition, witch trials, "curing" gays, priests molesting children, are you gonna pretend none of that happened? I mean just because someone claims to be christian doesn't mean theyr a good person, even if they hold power..... Hitler claimed to be Christian, the halucaust was a product of Christian supremacy (as were the witch trials too, in an unrelated event),...... Do you believe god commanded Hitler to kill all those people?

Shi'ite Muslim. I have friends from Somalia who are Muslim, some a branch that allows them to eat pork. They're nice people, but with the Qu'ran and certain Imams teachings' even they could have a change of heart. Whether about pork or the meaning of Jihad, they have the Qu'ran and it isn't going to change. After the first generation who have seen the effects of Jihad on their families are dead and if they are not remembered (or if they are remembered as heretics), there will be more "Martyrs for Allah" on our own soil and many more lands as well.

You think you're dealing with classic "All>Some" arguments. Not exactly. You are dealings with the ideologies and philosophies of the Qu'ran: there is no agreeing to disagree in Islam. Those who disagree are infidels and will see the wrath of Allah by the hands of his followers. Do you understand the difference between Islam and Christianity?

And a claim to be Christian is the same thing as being one since when...?

Abortion clinic bombing isn't approved of either in the Bible or by the Church.

Suicide bombings aren't condoned by the koran either, it's when people think their religion is the only religion that should stand and everyone else who believes in something different is "the enemy", or "them".
Iamnotaparakeet, you keep making hypocritical, one sided remarks. I'd be interested in seeing you and this muslim dude rip on one another, it would be great comic relief honestly.
