Give me a reason to care about politics

All that happens is corruption, money-mongering, stealing public money, scandals (though I do like those), nepotism, faulty elections, manipulation of the masses during elections, a lot of manipulation during mandate etc...

Nothing new there.

Why bother? In a country where 9/10 of the population doesn't know how to vote or doesn't care and where the number of serious voters can never make any difference do things ever change for better?

If they do, it's not through politicians who perpetuate themselves in power through connections and not competency.

I hate politics. Makes me cringe.

It's only sordid because people are involved.

They should have computers do the rulin'.

I'd say that the real reason why politics sucks isn't people but rather the fact that it is politics. We may talk about the corruption of people, but really, is the problem people or the fact that our desires will always be frustrated by those who disagree with us on both assessments of reality and on how we should deal with whatever assessment of reality we come to. Even with computers, we would still find troubles.

That's true, but that would be a disagreement with the system. I'm talking about people. Corruption and all the other "assets" I stated above are biggies where I live.

Come to think of it, the problem with computers are the people operating them. Maybe the real solution to those problems would be AI (going off on a sci-fi tangent here). Or maybe not.

I'm agnostic to virtually everything...

Caring about politics, is worthless.

If only, if only. I'm glad I'm not the only person who's noticed human beings are too illogical to govern fairly.

It still has to do with politics though. Frankly, I am of the opinion that all solutions are flawed. I would argue that outright corruption usually isn't the largest part of the budget, but rather misguided efforts.

Who will program the AI?

Back to square one. No solutions.

Too bad anarchy exists only in Utopia. It would be nice if it were feasibly possible.

How about a monarchy, just with a monarch who isn't a tyrant? Gustav Adolf II was good.

Sometimes I think it's the only thing that works. The perfect monarch. The true one-man rule.

The guy would have to be nice, though.
