...with this site being dominated by idiot Americans who think that what they say is the absolute truth no matter what, and think that what George Bush does shouldn't be questioned.

Why is it that I am hated on this site just because I speak out against what is unjust in this world? Why are you all so obsessed with defending the status quo, even if you know it is wrong? Why can't any of you think outside the narrow-minded dogmatic views of the corporate world that have been fed to you most of your life, and think for yourselves?

I'm sure you religious right are aware of the story of the Great Flood, and Noah's Arc. In that story, God decided to wipe the whole population out because they were so evil and so selfish, that there was no reason to save them. I think the same is true of you. American capitalism is so evil and so selfish, that you aren't worth saving, quite frankly, and I welcome the next terrorist attack on your soil.

Maybe it isn't wrong in their opinion

Just because they have different opinions from yours doesn't mean they aren't thinking for themselves.

Frankly, I've been fed the narrow-minded dogmatic view that the corporate world is inherently evil most of my life... and yes, some people go way overboard with their quest for money, but to say that to want money makes you a bad person by default is just silly... plus I can't help but notice that the people who decry the evils of greed and money are almost always the ones who already have plenty of it.

In a very few posts I have seen flag-waving, off-hand dismissals and the right pretending to be the wronged party. Such caricatures.

The way I see the "right" is that they are completely incapable of finding and correcting errors in their own programs, and the worse the idea is, the more avidly they pursue it.

I don't hate the British. I just hate Tony Blair.

For the record I voted for Kerry in the last election, and agree with the Democrats on most (not all) issues... I just really really dislike shrill, hysterical, fanatical protesters/politicians/what-have-you.

This is me as a NON-MOD...

RobertN, HOW DARE you sit there at your computer while you don't even live under that bastard, GW Bush, and have the audacity to insult half of the mods who LIVE in the United States and have to be EFFECTED BY THE THINGS HE INSTITUTES?!?

I have lost my insurance THANK YOU VERY MUCH because of this last round of Republicans while my body has suddenly decided to fall apart. Get off your high socialist horse while you're not even effected except by the news and international matters.

I agree with EVERYTHING you say about Conservative Republicans and the greed of big business, especially in the US. But STOP INSULTING PEOPLE when they DO agree with you and pushing all of the mods' actions off to some political sway. Because you're just being blind and making excuses for your aggressive actions. This isn't some "conspiracy".

Don't think you have the right to be so angry. You live in ENGLAND, while my health and future are being affected by all this politics. Because you just end up sounding
spoiled.

RobertN's feelings are understandable. I'm in the same boat. I've spent a lot of my life with domineering jerks ruling my life and yanking out of it everything that was worthwhile. When faced with people who espouse similar philosophies I tend to feel very negative emotions, including a lot of fear and pain. It's like watching an ongoing train wreck.

As the mod that RobertN is probably referring to, I'll say this:

I don't give a flying **** about politics. You can probably see that from the number of posts I've made in the Religion and Politics forum. That's one of the reasons I was the one who approached you, RobertN.

I am a citizen of both England and the United States, I grew up in neither, and I don't consider myself to have any national alliegiance whatsoever. So you can write me off as an "American", or embrace me as an "anti-American", and you'll get to be right both ways. I have no problem with you or anyone on this site criticizing the policies of Bush or any other politician. But when you begin insulting other members, you break the site's terms of service, RobertN. That's not an absolute truth, it's simply one particular truth in one particular corner of the internet - which is upheld by moderators from all over the world, not just the United States.

RobertN,

Are you aware that hoping for another terrorist attack on American soil means you want thousands of innocent people dead? Are you conscious that you're generalizing a nation of 300 million+ being all wicked and corrupt? Are you alert to the fact that just because you disagree with someone's politics doesn't make them a bad person by default?

Look, I disagree with virtually everything the Bush administration is doing, often to a vehement point. But with this post you're advocating mass murder. Fortunately I don't hold your statements against the whole United States, unlike how you're judging all of us as evil.

Wait wha? I was under the impression that this site is dominated by deviants. But regardless, Robert, you must understand and forgive humanity for instintictive survival imperitives. Autsitics and aspergers may be more deviant than the normal breed of humanity, but we all suffer from the herding instinct. Essentially no matter how much anyone tries OTHER PEOPLES OPINIONS MATTER TO US. I'd like to see someone who has a disorder where they honestly, from unconscious to conscious are totally uneffected by the opinions of others, but because that ability is tied to a learning by observing mechanism, probably the only person totally uneffected by others is so ret*d that all they can do is breath and suck food down a tube.

Why don't YOU think for yourself? Why must you follow the bandwagon of those people who get pissed off at others insults, follow the bandwagon of those who pitifully cry to others to think for themselves, follow the bandwagon of those who blame others because they cannot think of anything else do to? I understand why you are pissed. But just because you are pissed does not mean others will spontaneously change what they are. People are people, it is not some act of negligance or stupidty or failure of humanity that has come to make americans what they are, people on wrong planet what they are or anyone what they are. It is the actions of all people, through out all of history that has led to the current status of any living person now. Thousands of years of culture, and wars, and history, and events, all changing people, teaching them lessons, changing their lives, leading to the conditions of life and the people of today. If you are to be happy you must learn to accept that people are what they are. Essentially everyone is trying their best, so please have patience with us when we f**k up. We are only human.

Believe me, I'm no fan of Bush. That said...

1. Why isn't this in the politics forum?
2. You complain that Americans (myself included, apparently) are idiots and don't have an open mind, yet you seem entirely set in your ways and unwilling to consider the possibility that capitalism might not be pure evil. Does this seem a tad hypocritical?
3. Bush's approval rating with Americans is at 35% right now. I daresay his actions ARE being questioned.
4. Have you ever thought that any given economic or political system is neither good or evil, and instead each one has it's advantages and drawbacks. I am a radical, pro free market, capitalist, but I recognize that under socialism, there would probably be more equal distribution of wealth. However, I personally consider economic growth and productivity to be more important than equality, making capitalism my favored system.

Rather than telling us how evil Bush/America/capitalism/etc. are, why not tout the benefits of whatever you propose? Convince us that socialism (or whatever it is you advocate) is better than what we have now.

It's a tough case to make though...capitalism lifted 250 million people out of poverty in China alone. How many people were lifted out of poverty when Mao Zedong was in power?
