holy hell, did anybody see this?

how could McCain not see this coming? he's going on ELLEN for god's sake! he HAD to know it was coming up. not even McCain's that dumb. so if he knew it was coming, how could he not prepare an answer? he was mumbling the whole time.

i'm of two minds on this matter. either John McCain truly doesn't believe in gay marriage, or he's pandering to the people who don't believe in gay marriage because then they'll vote for him. look up the clip of him on Ellen on YouTube. he looks really tired and weary.

i also heard Mary Cheney came up but i haven't been able to find a full video of the show, but i'm sure THAT was interesting.

Sen. McCain's not a social conservative (in fact he's very weary of that wing of the party). He doesn't have particularly strong beliefs on the subject. Ellen asked him about it, and he gave his reasons (reasons that I should remind you most of the country agree with) in a respectful manner.

I don't think the appearance was a disaster. It showed that he wasn't a fire-breathing anti-gay bigot like many on the left would like to characterize him (including several on this site).

It wasn't his best television appearance, but he didn't do himself any damage. If anything, I think he was bored. He really doesn't get fired up for anything except foreign policy and immigration these days.
