Phelps despises both political parties. Incidentally, he used to vote Democratic.

The company that made Vioxx concealed information about the risks - it doubles the risk of having a heart attack. Several doctors have done studies, and estimate that over 100,000 heart attacks resulted from this deception. Since about 1/3 to 1/2 of heart attacks are fatal, this pursuit of profit may have killed 30,000 to 50,000 people. The company should pay restitution and penalties. The only way that can happen is from lawsuits and attorneys.

Quote:

“I believe that America's free market has been the engine of America's great progress. It's created a prosperity that is the envy of the world. It's led to a standard of living unmatched in history. And it has provided great rewards to the innovators and risk-takers who have made America a beacon for science, and technology, and discovery…We are all in this together. From CEOs to shareholders, from financiers to factory workers, we all have a stake in each other's success because the more Americans prosper, the more America prospers.”

— Barack Obama, New York, NY, September 17, 2007

Who cares what an economist thinks? They're not working for the Fed, and to think a President has any forceful impact on the economy goes against anything economists should know.
