[quote, "Orwell"]I take it you're not a fan of Mr. Brown? I haven't been following UK politics too closely, though I think I read something about Brown trying to force the new EU treaty/constitution down Britain's throat without a referendum. I dislike Obama enough after listening to his plans for America, but then Brown is Labour, which is even farther left then Barack economically.[/quote]
No, I'm not a big fan of Brown. Labour used to be the far left party, but Tony Blair and Gordon reinvented it as New Labour for the 1997 election, and Labour became much more centrist. Over the years Labour just kept going to the right, forgetting its own policies, and is now virtually indistinguishable from the Conservatives, who have been moving to the left. Now both parties are continually accused of stealing policies from each other. Brown doesn't seem to have much respect for democracy either, since he keeps trying to force dubious new laws into existence.
It's not his poor social skills I have a problem with, it's his attitude of "Shut up and do what you're told, I'm the guy in charge" that I don't like.
Rant finished.
