hmmm I don't know it kind of looks a bit satanic.

Also in church when they have communion, they are acutally eating jesus.

The crucified man is the centrepiece of our religion, Bogan. We eat of His flesh only because He has offered it to us as a reminder of His sacrifice. I don't really expect you to understand. Go, ahead, blaspheme all you want. Show us how learned and wise you are.

Ok I'm sorry this thread is a bit disrespectful.

I just got a bit annoyed at some of ragtimes posts trying to preach to people.

Christians are really great people. Just a few things here and there that clash with me, but I respect there views and hope they equally respect my views, everyone is allowed there own opinion.

Sorry if I offending anybody.

Ironically, most christians are not like ragtime... we believe in ideas like "nation shall not lift up sword against nation", "you cannot serve both god and wealth", and "love your neighbor as yourself"... it's not all about crusading, gay marriage, and abortions, as the extremely loud minority would have you believe...

Yeah I know, I do have lots of respect for all religions, in gerneral religion is something that is very positive and does a lot for good. Just when people take things to extremes and stop thinking for themselves I take issue with that.

Ever forget when it's ash wednesday and go outside and see a bunch of otherwise normal-looking people walking around with a really friggen ominous-looking black ash cross right smack in the middle of their foreheads? That's pretty freaky. And a reminder that really, even the most modern and socially accepted religions stem from primitive ritualistic shamanism.

And I am sympathetic with this type of christians.

That is what I believe how Jesus philosophy or teachings were about, according to the accounts, he was a pacificst, against war and violence, opposing to what a few fundamentalists believe.

It is again, what Jesus was said to be teaching, but how many self proclaimed true christians can follow it?

Not to mention that, according to the standards of the time and culture, Jesus was seem to be liberal, because well, according to the Bible accounts, he never discriminated sinners, prostitutes and sick people, that more people were rejecting and discriminating, defying some of jewish laws. That is also a reason why some scholars say Jesus was not a member of the Essenes, because they were a lot more conservatives on their views.

You're probably right. Do you know the symbolism behind the forehead ashes? To me, the Gay Pride Parade is pretty freakish. It's intentionally freakish. I don't understand why a grown man would dress up like a KISS Army Transvestite with full goth makeup and wig. But I'm resigned to not understanding a lot of things. Like my old man always says, "It takes all kinds to make a world."

They are entitled to worship anyone they want to.

Are you not aware that Jesus took things to extremes?

"Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?" (Matt 23:33)


And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, And said unto them, "It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves!" (Matt 21:12-13)

"Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do." (John 8:34)

Would you say those things were extreme, MR_BOGAN?

What's wrong with worshipping a man on a cross? Should it be a guy with his head in a vise?

If you think about it, Jesus didn't respect other people's beliefs.
Think about it; He didn't allow other people to keep their own beliefs, but rather taught them
His beliefs, while berating those who disagreed with Him.
He taught His own believes, crticized those who challenged them, and drew this line in the sand -- this ultimatum:
"He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned." (Mark 16:16)

The quote is hardly the same thing as today's in-style, politically-correct "Well, I respect your beliefs, and they are true for you."
Jesus said, throughout his entire ministry, the exact opposite of this modern, lip-service sentiment.
He said 1) that He is the Christ, 2) that He is God, 3) and that there is no way to escape Hell without Him.
