Who do you prefer to be leader of a country that is similar to US and UK, that is going though same difficulties in the economy.

Not enough context for me to choose. Can you give some example of how they differ, in additon to your summary?

I take it you're not a fan of Mr. Brown? I haven't been following UK politics too closely, though I think I read something about Brown trying to force the new EU treaty/constitution down Britain's throat without a referendum. I dislike Obama enough after listening to his plans for America, but then Brown is Labour, which is even farther left then Barack economically.

No, I'm not a big fan of Brown. Labour used to be the far left party, but Tony Blair and Gordon reinvented it as New Labour for the 1997 election, and Labour became much more centrist. Over the years Labour just kept going to the right, forgetting its own policies, and is now virtually indistinguishable from the Conservatives, who have been moving to the left. Now both parties are continually accused of stealing policies from each other. Brown doesn't seem to have much respect for democracy either, since he keeps trying to force dubious new laws into existence.

It's not his poor social skills I have a problem with, it's his attitude of "Shut up and do what you're told, I'm the guy in charge" that I don't like.

Eh, well, after the pounding Labour just took in the local elections, I've heard there have been calls for Brown to step down for the good of the party anyways. If he doesn't you can probably expect a Conservative PM pretty soon, so Brown will be gone in no time.

I don’t think the economy would be able to survive if Labour stayed the way it was. A high tax economy would have been the product of the loony left. I think many brits accepted that Maggie Thatcher is more appreciated much more now then she was when she was in power.

The problem I might have with new labour has become a bit like Microsoft Windows, bloated and beurocratic, thought the EU is even worse. Gordon Brown needs to cut away some fat from the system and cut some links to the EU.The United States of Europe don’t work. Unlike America each member state is vastly different from another, with vastly different laws. The EUs views are one size fits all.

At this point of time with a turndown of the economy, we need someone with a logical head not someone who is showmanship skills.

Right, like that's going to happen. I thought Brown was pushing for more integration of Britain into the EU?

I know that Gordon Brown has a good head for figures, and I thought he did a great job in the treasury, but he just doesn't make a good leader.

Like selling £4bn of our gold reserves at the bottom of the market. Such impeccable timing... the guy's a bloody genius.

Not quite. It is difficult to speculate, but it is said that Blair hoped to join the Euro sooner, but brown created his Five economic tests, which make it unlikely anytime soon.
