Anyone here recommend any good films and/or books on religion? Either of religious figures, or of epochs/mythologies.

I am currently watching a film about Adi Shankara. I've always been fascinated by Shankaracharya's story.

Another one is The Message which is about Islam's beginnings.

Also, I would recommend a book called World Scripture: A Comparative Anthology of Sacred Texts.

So anyone? I'm foolish enough to assume this won't be derailed by anti-religious idiots.

Hmm? This is not what I had in mind for recommendation. I've books explaining scripture and books on prayer. I'm looking for something more insightful.

I hear "Mere Christianity" by C.S. Lewis is very good. I've been meaning to read it myself, as I am a huge fan of his work.

Fiction or non-fiction?

Fiction:
The Didymus Contingency: A Time Travel Thriller (book)
Behold the Man (book)
The Davinci Code (book/movie)
Das Jesus Video (TV german time travel movie) - I wanted to see this movie, it looks very interesting, just have heard of it.

Non-fiction:
Well, not sure what kind of books would you want, I could say books related to the Dead Sea scrolls, Naj Hamadi scrolls, archeology on early christianity, history of Judaism, books that are related to those.

I should really clarify myself better. I sometimes forget that people don't think or understand like I do. I thought I did though.

Did you click on the links I posted on the first post? I'm looking for movies in that kind of sense. It doesn't matter which religion.

I'm not much into fiction like Stigmata or Davinci Code, I actually haven't even seen Davinci Code. I guess I should now. I did like the move Chronicles of Narnia, however.
