why is my faith so hard?

I come from a southrn bapst. upbringing and I"ve always had problems with my faith with God, I question everything, and then my parnents come aloung and call my questioning "evil" I try to have faith, I've even cut over the guilt that I feel for questioning, trapped inside my oun mind...all this pain...for what?!

if there is a god, he/she created your brain. therefore, you would be insulting him/her if you did not use it to question things! intelligence is a virtue and you should not feel ashamed of possessing it.

I go to a Southern Baptist church, and I've been taught that it's okay to question things. I only wish I could think of the verse(s) they used. I'll ask tomorrow.

Questioning and doubing your faith is normal. It is natural to want to know for sure that your religion is correct. It would be foolish not to find out. Last of all, the simplest definition of truth is "what is". Anything that is true will agree with anything else that is true. Under this prinicple, truth can withstand trial, which happens to be an integral part of our justice system as well. Sometimes there are events in our lives that make us wonder if God is really there as well. God gave you a brain that can analyze His word, use it.

Also, try reading Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis. I think it's the best book on Christian doctine. It should be available at any Christian bookstore. If for any reason you can't get it, I'll find you a link to an online version.

There is questioning of God by righteous people all over the Bible.

The most obvious instance might be the questioning by Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane and on the cross.

Clearly, Christianity clears the way to questioning God, and , therefore, clearly, to questioning the faith. I'm not as familiar with Southern Bapatists as I might be, but any faith that doesn't allow itself to be questioned stands on very shaky ground, in my opinion.

Excellent suggestion. I read it about thirty years ago when I was questioning faith myself. I still remember what a big help it was.

the aspegers side of me becomes prevelent when I try to have faith, I'm a very ridjed person, when I try to share my faith with others and my struggles with my faith they get offenseive, I still don't know why...

I have had the same thing happen to me. I am still trying to figure it out.

Save it for those who are interested, having a debate or fellow christians. People dont want you pushing your beliefs on them. Im sure if i told everyone i knew to be a christian that they where worshiping a non-existent ghost and so must be slightly looney theyd get offended so i save it for those times that ive mentioned above.

I used to be a christian, and I went through the same thing when I'd try to share my faith. I once gave a speech in my class about my faith, and it caused one classmate to spend the rest of the semester bullying me. I've also been on the receiving end of people who try to proselytize. I've never come right out and said what I REALLY feel (because I know it would offend people) but if you took a look at my face, you'd see that I was uncomfortable.

I assumed she meant talking with other Christians.
