I thought for a bit that orientation did play some part - your objection seems to be that straight men would be aroused by the prospect of using the same facilities as a woman. I don't like the sexualization of the toilet that seems to be driving the stigma. I'm going under the assumption that in time men and women sharing a single facility would become less of a novelty and more of a practicality.

I doubt it. You have any idea how many problems that will cause? What a convenient way to rape women, a guy just lurking in the "unisex" bathroom until one comes in. :thumbdown:

Yeah, it'd have to be after those crimes were drastically reduced, if ever.

Don't count on it. Rape has been part of human behaviour since the dawn of civilization and I don't think it's going anywhere.

What's to stop a guy from lurking in a women's room now? There's no forcefield, a guy could get in there if he wanted to. I don't think the bathroom being unisex is going to change that. There are unisex bathrooms all over the place, although they were born of pragmatism. I don't know about where you guys live, but in a lot of smaller places, locally owned stores, or gas stations for example, the bathroom is unisex. We've got one or two unisex bathrooms on campus, and no one has ever been raped in them, or the other restrooms for that matter.

So I'm not understanding something here. Why should I want to go to the bathroom with other females? I prefer to defecate alone. If in a public restroom, I really don't care if the other people there are male, female, intersexed, transsexual, or Martian. As long as they leave me alone, I don't care. Could someone explain to me why the sex of others using the facilities matters? I just don't understand.

And water closet is bathroom, or toilet. There are so many names for the crapper.

At my workplace , there's only 1 bathroom for both genders.....what's funny that cubicle 1 is for females and cubicle 2 is for males, as if the germs of one gender would kill the other.

because the women's is much nicer and they don't want to have to share with such pigs.

...at least, i've yet to see a men's restroom that isn't repulsive. i'm a fairly clean guy but god damn a lot of men are just nasty pigs. i wish i could get special permission to use the women's instead.

Screw this whole thing. I'm a firm believer that restrooms which accommodate more than one person are nasty anyway. Dump the gender thing and get me separate rooms!
