Is this how you mean to overthrow the world?
What is it with anarchists and lack of well thought out foresight, planning and organization?

I agree that the governments enslave the people, but would anarchy really work??

Given how long our last argument's been on this matter, I really don't think I feel a need to get up and give another spiel. In any case, all I am going to say is that I think that the assumptions of humanity people hold for a government, and those they hold for man without a government are not consistent with each other.

Ok. I'm in.

What's your policy on healthcare? Road maintenance? Strategic defence? Do we get helth insurance or what? What's your policy on securing world stockpiles of WMD's and keeping them safe from use?

You do have those.. don't you?

i'm not completely sure i understand what you mean, but surely you're statement would be a given? humanity under the control of a government compared to a self regulating humanity would surely be two completely different things? i guess the real point of what i mean is that, environmental factors must come into play fairly strongly, no? or am i missing your point somehow?

Well, the issue is that opponents tend to be very cynical about people's capabilities under anarchy, but seem to think that people in the government are wonderful and that governments are capable of getting a lot of good, desirable things accomplished. What you are talking about is different as it has no relation to consistency in one's view of mankind, as you suggest that people will change due to the environment, what I am talking about is that it seems that opponents imagine that people are magically good under government, magically bad without government, and nothing adequately explains the shift.

In many cases, yes. But it is not just that. Governments provide services (such as roads, sanitation, law and order, public works, public education, etc at nauseam) that would not likely be provided as well in the absence of government.

In most of Europe and the US we at least have some collective control over the system, imperfect as it is. If you remove that current system, then look to certain African countries such as Somalia for where you'll end-up. Even if you did initiate some governmentless system, then how the hell do you ensure it stays that way? Human beings default to forming groups, with hierarchies within those groups. Those groups then compete for resources; one group defeats another group, and the two merge to form a bigger one. A few centuries later and you're back to government.

Somalia is proof that anarchy is unsuccessful.

I personally support the Venus Project, with a few changes here and there. I believe the separate committees must be set up to maintain law (according to what people in the township judge), and development activities. I'm against any centralised control. Complete autonomy in these departments.

I'm saying this as a political science student.

Peace.
