This thought popped into my head and made me chuckle, If the USA was a person would they be DX with AS
Think about it
Does not get social cues
Behaves in a socially unnaceptable way
Restricted repetitive and stereotyped patterns of behavior
Lack of Empathy
Gets obsessive on issues
Any thoughts
(BTW, tongue firmly in cheek)

So what your saying is, America (the person) does have a disorder but maybe not ASD
Like the idea ![]()

Are you kidding? Several people here have professed to bullying of various degrees.
In my time as a bouncer, I certainly inflicted pain on people, though I pride myself on not having caused any injuries. The rather poor paycheck was not a motivation to do it; being top dog was.
Was I a bully? I am sure people thought I was.
When an aspie blows up over a sensory issue and goes on a rant, its intimidating to NTs(and other aspies!). Intimidation is bullying by definition.
A real bully, the type you mean, is a person that picks on another person for a perceived fault. Its something that bugs them so much they literally lash out. Its much like a melt down.
You see, if you have a person that was puny and weak as a kid, perhaps sickly, and they grow up and overcome that, they will often be offended and reminded of their own weakness when they see it in others, and they bully that person out of disgust for that trait. Nerds can be intellectual bullies. Its all matter of context.
A know of a 40+ year old woman online(not here at WP), who is a bully and she fits ASD to a Tee.
To her there is no room for moderate liberalism. If you are at all for social justice or programs, you are automatically a commie(shes an ex-translator of Russian). For example, if you like free software like firefox, then you are obviously a communist. Shes not playing cards with a full deck in other ways, as you can see. She doesnt think ANY disabled people should get social assistance. Even the blind and quadriplegics. To her that is the slippery slope of communism.
To her, everyone is a liar and full of s**t. Nobody ever knows better than she(though shes not overly intelligent), she'll scream and you and tell you there are rules that must be obeyed, and whines because they are levied against her, but seemingly against nobody else. Shes very rigid, feels very picked upon, and has absolutely no empathy for others(or understanding of the pain her words cause). I hope.
When you get under her skin, she will start making personal attacks, but she has no ability to intuit anything about other people, so she just reads their profile and tries to attack points there. When she did it to me, she zero'd in on something I wrote to make fun of myself(that I am not very friendly). She seemingly thinks that If I wrote it, it must be true(even though she called me full of s**t).
So it was highly ironic that she had no notion/care that she is so callous to people, but she tried to pick on me for calling myself unfriendly. Up until that point I considered her to be a sociopath. But shes terrible at manipulating people.
She was railing against something I said and the end result was a bunch of private messages giving me support and expressing interest, just because of how she was acting. I sold three hours of services because of her calling me a commie.
Shes an ugly, nasty, probably very lonely lady. My friend encountered her in person at a convention and said she walks around looking like she just stepped in dog turds. Shes not ugly, just unpleasant looking because of her expression and her misery is aging her badly.
She'll never show up here. Another friend pointed out that shes got autism radar and picks on them mercilessly. She sees her own weakness in others and cannot abide it.

Maybe a better comparison than a bully would have been a stereotypical football jock... who sometimes are bullies, but that seems to be like the USA: sometimes a bully, but almost always cocky. Anyway, I am sure bullies with AS exist, I just have never had the misfortune to meet one, either here or elsewhere. The ones I have encountered have all been charismatic, popular, and totally aware of the pain they were causing.

Do you really expect us to consider that the US (person) acts in a sheepish manner

The USA does often have a strong sense of justice, though not everyone shares it, if something is thought of as bad then alot of things leading to that are probably bad also. Take its idea of comunism and september 11 terorists.

The funny thing is that most of the people who have posted about this have infact not been American. I don't realy think America is realy eccentric and I have not once see America stim, and it is far from quite and or staring into space.

Thats a excellent point.
I think that those of us(aspies/HFA) that are here at WP have more emotional intelligence than those that haven't sought out others like themselves.
I know of two other potential aspies through a friend of mine. One is a very high functioning man with a career in engineering. Hes been very callous with my friend, but hes basically functional in society.
The other is my friends nephew, and hes also bipolar. He just recently got assisted living in an apartment of his own at 27, so I hear hes doing a lot better, but hes a very lonely guy with no friends at all.
And that seems to be often true. The lonely ones are less befriended, and those of us(I mean aspies like me) that are not so driven to friendships are more charismatic.
Do you find that true as well Balefire? Maybe you have an interesting alternate take on the matter?

I think about it all the time as I notice correspondences between myself and the world. The entire human race can be seen as a single individual, and that individual is most definitely autistic.
I am constantly working my mental ass off in my hidden world, this work dictates how my life in the external world goes and is the reason everything looks like such a mess. My entire existence is predicated on the successful completion of this work, there is not one thing that I do that isn't directed toward this hidden world.
The Human race is constantly working in this same hidden world, rebuilding the Mighty Order of the Ages. From the outside we see this as secret societies/fraternal orders and the conspiracies they're up to. This hidden work absolutely dictates how things in the external world are done. On the surface it looks like mayhem, but nothing could be further from the truth. Our entire existence hinges on the successful completion of this work before time runs out (2012?).
I'm particularly good at pattern recognition, part of my savant forte I guess. I can look at the story of Cain and Able and see an exact pattern match in myself. Taking away the words and just looking at the mechanics of the story, it is exactly the same pattern I went through before birth that made me an autistic savant. The separation of my abilities from the "me" that lives in the external world and the difficulties and internal battles between the idiot and savant in me. Abel or Able represents the savant retaining all of my natural creative abilities to use in a hidden world, Cain represents the idiot left to cope in the external world with no clue or abilities and the resulting frustration. I know this happened before my physical birth because the story of Noah and the flood (all flood myths really) represents the physical birth process and Cain and Abel come before that in the bible.
There are more and more autistic people being born every day. I feel like I get more and more autistic every day. I am pouring more and more resources into my hidden world every day in a final push as I see time running out and the eminent completion of the work.
I look at the back of a dollar bill and I see myself, the world, and the work we're all up to. I don't know how to explain this, my mind sees the symbols and expands them into the complete story of our esoteric work. They only make sense from the hidden side of things, in the external world they could mean anything or nothing.
I see myself when I look at the world, when I look at the great pyramid, when I look at the bible. I think this can only be understood through direct experience. I have no way in under a million words to describe it the way I'm seeing it but I know beyond the shadow of a doubt that what I'm seeing is "me".
I experience everything that goes on in the world in a microcosmic way. I've noticed that my outbursts coincide with solar flare activity. I've gone through my own little war on terror telling myself the same lies we're fed through the media. I constantly experience the "shock and awe" of the hidden work we're all up to when I catch glimpses of it through the veil.
I look at cutting edge science and technologies and I can see them applied toward that work within myself. I am constantly employing these technologies in a mental or metaphysical way. I use NASA's hydrostatic and hydrodynamic warp field technologies to "hold and accelerate the work". One makes an unbreachable private space for the work to happen and the other employs Alcubierre's warp drive theory using my own trinity to expand and contract local space/time, accelerating the work towards it's target with terminal velocity and accuracy. I use NASA's acoustic stepping and gating techniques to move things from my position that would normally be far out of reach. I even used JPLs gravitational slingshot maneuver in a mental way so I could use the forces going against me to my advantage.
I can see the current 101010 computer technology employed in the way my conscious mind solves problems in a linear fashion. In my hidden world I am connected to thousands of other savants through our synaptic centers, we are of like mind and purpose giving each of us access to the most advanced neural network that's ever existed to do our part of the work. We have access to the "hall of records" the entire experiential knowledge base of the Human race and the guidance system to use it right. I'm pretty sure this corresponds to the "elect" of the end times in the bible.
There's more, I could literally fill volumes with this stuff. I see the same patterns and cycles in my everyday doings that I see in the movements of the stars and planets. When something major happens in the world I'm bracing for impact, never sure of how it will present itself in my life. I can never tell if I affect things or if they affect me, or if both effects are from a hidden cause that I'm unaware of. The way it feels though is like my own movements are not my own, like the world around me is saying "dance little man!" and I dance because that's all I know how to do.
The USA is an "average" of the world, I see it as a octave step in the stepping down process between macrocosm and microcosm. Here's the cartoon version of the theory.. we are trying to incorporate the whole into the smallest "cosm" possible so we can fit as many microcosms as possible into the macrocosm. This ends up being a Human being, the smallest "container" that is able to contain the whole with all it's color, texture, and nuances. The "ideal" being to have a world of beings that are all powerful, each having all the power and abilities of the whole and fully exercisng them at will without getting in eachothers way. A race of gods living together as men and acting like men, not spoiled rotten gods.
Life as a creation is musical with the hierarchy of creation sitting on 12 different octaves. The Universe is on one octave, the galaxy on another, the solar system on another, the earth on another, the USA on another and so on down to a single human being. In our case we're "crossing" these octave barriers by taking scalar averages and using them as acoustic steps or doorways to the next octave. The Milky Way galaxy being an average of the universe, our solar system being an average of the galaxy, Earth being an average of the solar system, the USA being an average of the earth, on down to an individual human being. Without America and what she has accomplished we would be missing a crucial step in the process.
