John McCain has so many houses (7) that he couldn't keep count of them. Cindy McCain wore a $300,000 outfit to the convention.

Damn, most people would be happy to have $300K for ONE house.

complaining about the success of Cindy McCain's family is like crapping all over the American Dream.

John McCan't make up his mind about any of his positions or keep track of how many houses he owns.

I think that might be slightly worse than Edwards getting an expensive haircut.

It's the American dream to have a series of extramarital affairs, and then leave your wife for a rich heiress whom you can humiliate in public without consequence?
wow, American men are bigger a**holes than I thought.

But maybe it's just Neocons like McCain who think that's what the American dream is. I'll take Obama's version - of both dream and family - any day.

That was my first thought - the right wing noise machine went on endlessly about Edwards spending $200 on a haircut, as if that had any significance - alleged proof he was vain, elitist, had money to waste, and was out of touch with the average person. Now that I see a potential first lady wearing bling that cost more than my house, I am supposed to turn off any notions that such conspicuous consumption might be an indicator that she is vain, elitist, has money to waste, and is out of touch? I am not complaining about her success - I just see her as distant from my life and political self-interest.

John Edwards was criticized by the right for owning two nice homes. But it is unfair to criticize John McCain for not knowing he owns 7 homes? Please, lets have a single standard for all politicians.

The news people were saying that his wife owns most of those houses, and he wasn't sure how many there were. He didn't want to lie. Does the man get screwed over for being honest? I mean Obama only owns a mansion...

Your right - I think it was a brain fart, although he could have recovered and start listing the places they actually live in from time to time - there are 4 of them, I believe. Or, he could have burst into song (along the lines of "Bomb-bomb-bomb, Bomb-Iran) and given us a version of the Eagles song ... "I have some mansions, I forget the price, I've never been there, they tell me their nice!".

Mansion is French for 'house' and usually means 'large house' in English. According to McCain, if Obama is making less than five million dollars per year, he is still middle-class.

And this is where the presidential race starts getting really issues-based.

I miss the primaries.

The fact that he forgot how many he owns is far less important than the fact that John McCain owns SEVEN houses. He's not exactly an everyman at that rate.
