Off topic, but the whole sheep/shepherd metaphor for God and his people (in whatever religion) fascinates me. Because it originated in cultures where people were much more involved with farming, therefore much better acquainted with what the shepherd actually would eventually
do with the sheep. He didn't raise them, protect them and rescue them from the wolves for
their benefit - quite the opposite. As a metaphor for a loving God, it is, therefore, crucially lacking something IMHO...
