Americans are narrow minded?
Lay off Homer Simpson...he has a crayon lodged in his brain, bad dna, had drugs tested on him, and had his head bashed a bizllion times.
I have to say america has got to stop spreading its crappy culture, it causes people in good old Britain to become chavs, i'm pretty sure they spell like americans and think that america is better than england, god I hate some people, can we get permission to ship them to you guys? They arn't hard workers but you can use them as slave labour if you give them pot lol
And my main bad points of america are:
-China with 1300 million+ people use 7,000 barrels of oil per day and don't go to war for it as far as I can tell, america has a much smaller populace, about 300 million+, strange however that the massive difference of people, China use about three times less, yes america use about 20,000 barrels a day, I mean what the hell, are you eating it?
-Far too religious, I mean religion is fine as a personal choice, but when an advanced country tries to act like the world is full of sinners because they think differently, that's the kind of thing that they believed in the middle ages
-Stop saying as 'American as apple pie' dammit, its an english reciped from the 14th century, your basically taking pride in an english cultural thing
-Stop forcing england to go into war with you, or more easily don't start wars! I bet the world would be nicer that way

This comparison is deeply flawed. China has a lower per capita oil useage for the simply fact that it's dirt effing poor. A better way to do this is in GDP per barrel. Here as well the USA weighs in at an unspectacular 15th most efficient of the 30 biggest economies in the world, but pulls ahead of such otherwise unobjectionable countries as Belgium, Poland, Greece, and Canada. Among per capita consumption, the USA is quite high, but again by no means the worst in the world (actually beaten out by again, Canada, and Luxembourg)

Actually, let's make a list of countries we beat
GDP/barrel:
Luxembourg
Belgium
Portugal
Poland
Greece
Canada
Israel
South Korea
Russia
Just to name a very few. Note that by the time you get to Russia, we produce almost 3 times as much per barrel of oil consumed.

Ok. I'm kinda bummed out by the whole forum here, but I'm hardly a stranger to the attitude.
The whole thing stems from what would have been a minor incident in the 19th century in the US, regarding Unionization. After a lot of wrangling, the US agreed to allow unions, providing they didn't organize as a party. From here, the cultures of the US and Europe begin to diverge.
Now, just a 'things that make ya say hmmm' moment.
Putting aside our common faults, what things are unique to the US that you find objectionable?
I find it hard to believe we have a monopoly on ignorance, objectionable behavior, and geographical problems. Militarism, fanaticism, religion (why any religious belief whatsoever is considered rampant Fascism is beyond me. I'm doubtful, but I can't prove the nonexistence of God/Allah/fill in the blank. And it's all your fault, we just brought over the good books you gave us...
.
The way I hear it, Europe has nothing to learn, and everything to teach, while the US has nothing to teach, and everything to learn. Once we realize that, we'll be the best of friends...or maybe that was just the French..
I'm afraid the problem is quite worse than that. I'm sure our neighbors to the South (anyone's) would lament the ignorance of geography and history south of the Equator. The Sri Lankans probably wonder why Colombo is considered an old American TV series, New Guinea isn't filled with headhunters (except maybe the business kind...
, and Africa is just a sinkhole that will never get better. Not everyone knows where Konakri is, Kwajalein, the Maldives, Ougadougu (sp?) and other places without looking them up.
I'll shut up now. I was lucky enough to spend thousands of dollars visiting UK, France, Greece, Italy, St. Maarten, Candada, and Turkey, in the 90s. Not everyone was so fortunate. I hope it's made me a little more knowledgeable, but I'm just trying to be nice...
