Criticize Islam!
I meant to do this earlier but I forgot. It's discussed in this thread that generally if there's a thread criticizing Christianity, it's left untouched but if there's a thread criticizing Islam, the moderators delete it. If that's true the moderators will delete this thread and I suppose our Christian members have a reason to be pissed, but if not you have a thread that's available for you to post your criticisms or disagreements of Islam in. I really just wanted to get a thread out but I'll post a few small arguments and some larger ones later on.
Many Muslims think the fact that the Qu'ran has less contradictions than the Bible makes it more reliable. For the record, the Bible was apparently written by over 40 people while the Qu'ran was written by one person. One person versus forty is going to show a large decrease in contradictions, that's common sense. And the main thing I find crazy about Islam is the Qu'ran. That has got to be among the most violent books ever written. And beyond that, you want to say Islam is the religion of peace? "When you meet the unbelievers, strike off their heads; then when you have made wide slaughter among them, carefully tie up the remaining captives." -- Holy Qu'ran, Sura xlvii.4. Strike my head off? That's very peaceful. Then I don't even need to go on about the sexism as everyone knows where the Qu'ran stands on that issue.
Anyhow those who have criticisms to post, go ahead as that's the point of this thread.
Sinc you are doing this as a demonstration and not in earnest, I doubt you will be taken seriously. But members here have previously been banned summarily for flaming Islam. As they should be, I will note. Attacking someone's beliefs with vitriolic hatred is uncivilized and inappropriate.

i just read recently about some worthless piece of s**t in saudi arabia. he said that he was blessing anyone who'd kill people who work for tv stations that broadcast shows that he deems obscene over the arab countries.
he should be tortured slowly then killed never to see the light of day after the initiation of torture. he'll love it. all those religious uptight pricks love being oppressed for their religion. makes them feel special and valid.

Given that christianty is regularly flamed on wrong planet why should islam be protected.
The reason I do not comment on islam is not due to fear of the reaction, but simply that I have not experienced it enough first hand, all I know about it comes from christian propaganda. I general terms islam is a religion and in general I do not respect religious beliefs because I believe them to be foolish.

i think an increased islamic population here would fix taht problem. most of the anti-christian stuff is born of personal frustration (moral hauteur can make anyone pissed after enough of it) or of reactionary means (see: john gabriel's greater internet fuckwad* theory).
anyways, islam is just as fake and worthless as christianity. though i kinda feel like they get the raw end of the deal since only the terrorists are really popularized in the media....i mean what about the islamic guy who fits the christian counterpart where they don't really follow much of the laws but still believe in the god. i knew that archetype in a muslim person and they were really nice, welcoming people.
but the terrorists and the primates over there screaming to kill people over showing a full face or showing tits...those people are worthless and should be killed.

but it can't just be the literature. it also has to be its representatives as well.

There was no vitriolic hatred in z0rp's post he/she was merely stating some logical reasons why Islam isn't the religion for them. If anyone is to be banned from WP for posting their views against (or for) a religion, then let's keep it fair and equal please and don't vary the punishment according to the religion being spoken of otherwise that in itself is offensive.

Well if you guys really want the truth this is how I've been seeing it lately. No one really cares enough to attack the flaws and such in Islam but they're all over Christianity, and the few people who do try it, in a public way especially usually get censored. This creates a false view of what's really true and can even lead people to believe Islam is more reliable a religion just based on how few people seem to be criticizing it lately. When I heard it was getting censored, even on this forum I felt a bit shocked considering the level of free speech we have around here which is one of the main thing that encouraged me to start this thread. And I didn't do this in 'hatred', what would give you that idea? If I started the thread and used excessive swearing for no particular reason and maybe a lot of caps lock like an idiot you could indicate I was doing this out of hatred, but read my post, there's no signs of it at all. And I wouldn't waste hatred on something as ridiculous as a religion, especially if that religion is Islam.
Islam is not one thing, just as Christianity is not one thing. I suggest you read up on the Algerian civil war - it involved the deaths of about 200,000 people in one small country. It was between fundamentalists on one side, and on the other, people who favored a moderate interpretation of Islam or a secular government and freedom for the individual to make their own decisions. This conflict demonstrates not only are some Muslims willing to criticize the extreme elements in their own religion, they find sometimes they must go to war with them. Egypt has had the same type of conflict with the Muslim Brotherhood (which assassinated president Anwar Sadat and is seen as the theological father of Al Qaeda). Of course the extremist views of Islam and Christianity are flawed. Both should be exposed for what they are.
A good deal of the Islamic extremism is cultural rather than out of the religious writings. One may argue that the religion is rather liberal towards women and has rather decent points of view. But the culture of denying equal women's rights is deeply imbeded in old traditions of male dominance and these cultures are very difficult to modify.
Anyhow those who have criticisms to post, go ahead as that's the point of this thread.
In the name of the Almighty God, the Merciful, the Benevolent,
Firstly, The Quran is not written by one man. It has been composed by Allah (SWT). It has existed forever. It has no beginning, it has no end. The angel Gabriel (AHS) imparted the knowledge of the Quran to Muhammed (SAW).
Abdullah Yusuf Ali, interprets the verse (which you have mentioned) carefully as such:
Therefore, when ye meet
the unbelievers (in fight),
Smite at their necks;
At length, when ye have
Thoroughly subdued them,
Build a bond
Firmly (on them) : thereafter
(Is the time for) either
Generosity or ransom
Until the war lays down its burdens
Its burderns, Thus (are ye
Commanded) but if it
Had been God's Will,
He could certainly have exacted
Retribution from them (Himself);
But (He lets you fight)
In order to test you,
Some with others.
But those who are slain
In the way of God
He will never let
Their deeds be lost.
Jihad literally means a "holy struggle". In terms of war, Jihad in Islam is allowed only under two conditions - In self defence, and if the enemy oppresses Muslims from practicing their faith. This verse applies only under these conditions. If a Muslim wages war not under these terms, he has committed mass murder. Shirk, Murder, and Zina (rape) are the worst sins in Islam.
The Quran absolutely forbids killing prisoners of war, except under one condition: If the enemy is pagan, and had entered into an alliance with the Muslims, later backstabbed them (during a battle), and refused to surrender (during a siege) after the three holy months (Hajj, the month prior, and the month following - during these months, it's forbidden for Muslims to advance, only self-defence is allowed), then, it is justified to kill those who took part in the battle.
As for women in Islam, please read this: http://www.islamfortoday.com/women.htm
May Allah (SWT) correct your misconceptions. Ameen.

?? Allah (SWT) will judge him on the day of judgement. On the day he dies, if he was truly sinful, his punishment shall begin in his grave.

Well, yes, but look at Turkey and see that it is slowly changed despite that. There is a big difference between the kakistocracy in Saudi Arabia and the more contemporary interpretations. What really irks me is the so-called 'islamic banking'. It sounds so horribly crazy and despite all the hoops that have to be jumped through might still be in violation of the Islam!

It might be. I don't know much about Islamic banking. I personally hate the banking system in general.
Turkey is a secular state. It has many anti-Islamic policies, initiated by Kemal Mustafa, may he be punished forever in his grave. Wahaabism, the strict Shariah interpretation followed in Saudi Arabia, is actually in violation of many principles of Islam. Most Saudis criticize it, as do most Muslims. The Wahaabis are a very tiny minority, confined to the desert region surrounding Riyadh, and with the rural Pashtuns in Afghanistan. Iran follows the most correct form of Shariah currently in existence. However, there too, there's a lot of injustice. True Shariah does not exist right now, anywhere. Shariah is flexible, it can be modified, as long as it does not contradict the Quran. Shariah today, does indeed contradict the Quran.
