I guess you all love discussing politics, but would you ever come into this forum with your viewpoint and leave it with a completely diametrical one? What would need to happen for this (not only in the fora but in real life as well)?

For me:

I would leave my libertarian views behind and become a communist if I would see it working in a country and working better than capitalism.

I would become religious if I would find solid evidence for it. Like clearly written prophecies coming true, or that event in Left Behind where the attacking airforces can not reach Israel... vague, nostradamos-ish prophecies do not count though.

I would have to have a gun to my head before I did that, and even then I probably wouldn't.

I came on this forum a year and a half ago believing in free will and not believing in god. Now I believe in god but not in free will.

Both changes were a direct result of discussions on the forum.

I have also "altered" certain other beliefs in the light of people's arguments/new data on here. I find WP in general very thought provoking.

You disturb me. You would stick to your views even though you could be buried in evidence to the contrary? Or did I miscommunicate. There are things, which I would also not change easily but it's subjective matters (I am very partial towards my text editor*), but this sounds as if you post here and strive to keep your views constant.

My views are based on empirical evidence and logic. I go where the evidence leads. I am not married to most of my views until death do us part.

Same.

"Repeatably verifiable evidence of claim" is another way to put it.

In that case, I can't say without foreknowledge what would make me change my views.

Seeking refuge from psychological despair, emotional breakdown, and circumstantial situations.

Lucky for me, I've already sought refuge from all of these despairing factors! :drunken:
