Well personally I see Democrats and Greens as apologists for capitalism and very naive. Problems with poverty, the environment, and all manner of identity politics cannot be solved under capitalism, because capitalism by its very nature causes these problems.

I see poverty as a whole as something that is caused bu unequal distribution of wealth. Too many people competing for the same jobs & so on. A good majority of people hate there jobs. If you had more redistribution of wealth & a better educational system poverty can be stomped to the ground.

If better education arises people won't be competing for the same entry-level jobs as the rest of Americans. You can also change the world and make it where there is better opportunities for everyone and do on while being financially free.

Supply-Side is flawed altogether and should be stopped at all costs.

I'm a Canadian who isn't a conservative, which in American terms makes me a left-wing loony.

That's Cool, I'm considered a left-winged nut in my country but that's because I live in America. The Canadian Government is the type of government every country in the world should have. I bet you enjoy your Universal Health-Care System. As well as the stricter civil-rights provisions and so on.

I'm quite proud of it, but I'm living in Ireland right now and have sort of grown up here so I think I see Canadian government through a child's eyes rather than the jaded perception of an adult.

I'm British, we have universal healthcare too, it's awesome. I'm glad I ain't American just for that reason, but I'm planning on moving to America when I'm older despite the medical bills. I'll just be careful, LOL.

I'm mostly liberal, but I do support capitalism within reason.

One difference between the Canadian health care system and the British is that the former bans almost all private treatment. Most conservative Americans when disputing the merits of public health care look at Canada and Cuba as examples rather than Australia and the UK which use both public and private health care and may be more palatable to Americans.

Not sure which 'greens' you are referring to - there is a wide spectrum of green thought, some greens are shallow, but others have rejected capitalism. The US greens are too outside of the mainstream in their rejection of capitalism to get elected to anything bigger than the occasional mayor position.

The UK Greens are a bit like that too.

For those of you trying to elevate your countries' medical systems above America's... you're only half right. You may not pay for it (directly) but you do indirectly through taxes and through decreased quality of care. Look up cancer mortality rates sometime. America sure beats the hell out of the Brits there.

I don't know if I would call myself a liberal in the conventional US sense of the term, but I am a liberal in the sense of wanting rule of law and protection of civil liberties. I also am socially liberal (pro-gay marriage, in favor of legalizing or at least decriminalizing most or all drugs). However, I am more strongly in favor of free-market principles than the typical American "liberal" and because of this I often disagree with the Democrats (and leftist third parties) on various issues.

However, I can join you in hating Reagan, Robertson, and Palin.

A bunch of Republicans support him too, you know.
