Something that kind of saddens me lately is how little attention the tibet movement has gotten as of late. What we're looking at is an entire culture taken over by a hostile power, they fled their homes in order to perserve their own identity, while the majority of the world is unwilling to help beyond taking them in.

This issue has been going for nearly fifty years, and only got any attention recently because china was the one hosting the summer olympics. Now that the games are over, everyone has gone back to not even knowing where tibet IS.

So, in the spirit of spreading the word about a serious injustice that needs to be corrected, everyone who is interested, post your thoughts on this issue.

When my country was occupied by a hostile power, the most powerful nation in the world in fact, we pulled ourselves up by the bootstraps, kicked their asses back across the atlantic, and became the world's most powerful nation ourselves. It wasn't easy, it wasn't pretty, but it was the only way we could become independent, and we did it no matter how many lives we lost, no matter how outgunned and outnumbered we were, and no matter how long it took.

That's what Tibet should do.

Until they do, China will continue to s**t on them and they won't get much help from anyone but hippies and out-of-work actors...

but the fact they are buddists and under strict control means nothing of course. They should just forget their morals and beliefs and kill a couple of the soldiers by stealth, considering they don't even have access to the internet now, since china cut that off. No weapons, nothing, their families murdered... yeah, that sounds like the right way for a buddist to go eh?
its ignorance like this that really p*ss*es me off. And, just for the record, those people you kicked out of 'your' country were your ancesters, so technically YOU ARE ONE OF THEM.

The fact is, they haven't been their own country since before the founding of the united states. Imperial china controlled them too.

And Imperial china occupied them so that someone else wouldnt.

It's been China's territory for the 17th century forward, if I'm not mistaken.

There is a lot of myths surrounding the war of independence. It actually divided whole families. It was not quite the us and them situation is portrayed as. Also most people who came to America were already opportunists, and were definitely not native.

I mean three is a bunch of Ecuadorians that have moved to the Galapagos islands, mostly over the last 20 years. It is actually causing ecological problems. Especially fishermen, some of who have made threats they would destroy endangered species if they don't drop the quotas on sea cucumbers and other things. Independence movement or the modern day Buccaneers that roamed these islands before you decide.

Secondly Tibet hasn't got a chance in hell of kicking China out by force. The US may have a problem with ground fighting due to death rate attitudes, but china has the biggest army in the world and not afraid of casualties. There have been demonstrations, but they are mostly act of desperation as it results in them getting killed. It does draws some outside attention though.

@op

There is nothing remarkable about the situation in Tibet. There are many such situations across the world, just the vast majority of people know very little about them. It is a testament to the Dalai Lama that the west is involved at all.

Nativisim is problematic Anyone can claim to be from everywhere. I mean we are all from out of Africa. This is why I am no fan of nationalism or nativism. Those can be just as violence and colonisers and then can to both.

What country are you referring to? If you are talking about the United States and Great Britain, Great Britain never occupied the United States. The Thirteen Colonies were part of Great Britain and the American who lived in North America were Brits.

In sri lanka, especially.

Buddhism was never completely pacifist.

From what I've heard, the situation in Tibet is very sad.

But since the current Western elites don't care about the genetic and cultural survival of their own kin, it's unlikely they're going to care too much about the fate of the Tibetans.

It's hard to see what the NWO would gain by picking a fight with China. But if they ever do decide that such a thing would be in their interests and if they fancied their chances, it probably wouldn't take too long before bombs were raining down on Chinese villages.

still though, they have a whole seperate culture which is being wiped out. that's what bothers me the most. the Dalai Llama doesn't call for full independency anymore anyway, but the Chinese are mean bastards to opress the Tibetans just because they have a different culture. they should cherish that culture, but they are a bunch of idiots with delusions of their own grandeur.

whats wrong with the uyghurs?

why this constant priority for the tibetans?

is it because tibetans are cooler, being buddhists, while the uyghurs are just simple muslims?

i know the answer tho, and its this:

the tibet issue has media coverage.
uyghuristan does not.
uyghuristan has even been repeatedly nuked by china, as part of tests. still nobody gives a s**t.

and in case you still dont get what im talking about, the uyghurs are the northern part, above tibet, with a independence struggle as long as the tibetans.
screw the uyghurs.
and screw tibet.

honestly.
the one thing they have in common, is that independent they would be two huge, barely populated countries, with intense poverty.

I care about both the Tibetans AND the Uyghurs. And all the other people who are being oppressed around the world. Why must we prioritise humanity? Is it not possible to care about everyone?

Apparently, the Dalai Lama is a "racist".
This must be true, because the Chinese writer Bevin Chu says so.

China is eventually going to take over the world, at least half of it anyway.
