Those who like Obama:

Is there anything that Obama can do that will cause him to lose favor in your eyes?
Or is Obama always awesome merely for being Obama?

I also encourage a member or members less exhausted than I am right now to come up with an actual "Are You an Obama Zombie?" quiz. That would be interesting. Maybe a set of 10 Yes/No questions which, if all answered one way, mean you're an O.Z. I'll propose the first question:

1. If America's economy is in a much, much worse state at the end of Obama's term, would you still be a fan?

Sure. If Obama invaded Iran, you would hear denunciations of him from me immediately. If he managed to badly screw up relations with Russia or China, you'd hear complaints from me. He's got a tough situation to deal with domestically, but if he does something very obviously stupid that has an immediate negative impact, you can expect to see me voting Republican in 2012. (Unless, of course, Jindal gets the Republican nomination- anyone is better than Jindal)

i hope obama does well so all you conservatives can eat your words. but will they? and no im not an obama zombie. i dont get attached to leaders of countrys like that. what difference is there between the gangs in L.A. and republicans and democrats? well they got the color scheme down pat thats for shure but not much else

I'm kind of cautious. He seems to be very interested in bailing out those wretched bankers that put Americans in the mess in the first place, in fact he's the guy who got most support from the very same banks in the election. Seems like a mere puppet, IMNSHO.

Still, he's got a couple of years left to prove that he is more than an empty suit.

He has until the bi-elections of 2010. If he does not establish his bonafides by then, his administration will unravel.

You can't really expect people to take your question seriously right? Zombies? It's a loaded question, and it will not foster much in the way of meaningful discussion.

It would be better without a poll (or at least with 6 or 7 options), and titled something like "What would Obama have to do to lose favor in your eyes?"

That is incredibly close-minded. If he ended all war and sent me $50 million, I'd view him as a pretty swell guy.

Except that $50 million would have been taken from people that worked hard for it, which isn't cool.

Ugh, I was not referring to government payouts, let's say he published a book and all proceeds went to me. I was trying to point out that your statement of absolute "I will never like that guy no matter what" was absurd. How about a more compelling example for your situation. How about if he lifted any restriction on fully-automatic guns, got rid of the income tax, and built a 50-foot high wall across our southern border? Obviously that's not going to happen, but maybe you see what I'm getting at now.

I should rephrase my statement: there is probably nothing that Obama is likely do in the real world that will win my approval.

I like the job Obama is doing... I especially liked the shutting down Guantanamo Bay internment camps that happened early on, and the transferring of military funding to projects that actually bear fruit instead of dumping it on things that have no clear objective... (and no, he didn't cut the overall defense budget... he actually raised it...)

I'm with Orwell mostly... if the state of the nation is worse-off because of Obama's actions, I would not vote for him in 2012...

In any case, though, I knew that January 20, 2009 was a very important day regardless of who won the 2008 elections long before said elections took place... it was the day the Moron would leave office...

He's so far proved to be a good choice for me. Glad I decided to vote for him instead of Cynthia McKinley or Mike Gravel. He'd lose my reelection vote if he invaded Iran, screwed up international relations with other countries to the FUBAR point, or if he grossly violated civil liberties (the wiretapping thing is making me raise my eyebrows and grumble) I know in my heart that I'm far more liberal than he ever will be, but I'm willing to listen to a moderate president. Doesn't matter if the cat is red or blue, only that it catches mice. Not to mention, if someone truly great comes along (and actually has a chance of winning) in the next election cycle, I'll vote for them instead of Obama.
