Personally I think the new pope looks evil, he has really evil eyes.

I liked the previous pope.

As much as I respected the prior Pope (read some of the things he published), I find that any system that promotes one man as "spokesman" for God has room for major problems to take place.

The Pope isn't the best man on the planet....just the guy that the high-ranking muckity-mucks choose to lead the organization. Even if he was the "best" man....that would be the determination of peers who likely have selfish political agendas, so again he's who is deemed best to lead by a select few.

My son refers to him as the Emperor Popadine. (Our family are Catholic... they think we're evil.)

I don't know if the pope is evil but the papacy sure is.

Oh... by the way, the first picture of popadine... doesn't it look as though he has white horns coming out of his head?

He's just an old man with one very strange sense of Vatican style.

I am not one for the papacy, but the old pope looked like a kindly old man that you'd want to help over the stairs or something.

He was the spitting image of my Grandad, so I have a soft spot for him.

Wow, seven replies and no one's yet said anything about how he used to be in the Hitler youth.

What's going on?!

I don't believe in good and evil, so no, I don't think he's evil. I do, however, think he is a reprehensible public figure that should be vilified for his negative impact upon society.

Catholics are almost as LOL as Mormons.

That maybe because that is the weakest argument against him given that all boys in Germany had to join after 1939, and he relative was killed by a nazi eugenic program for being downs. He wasn't especially cooperative either. His father considered Hitler youth anti catholic.

In contrast the founder of IKEA, was in a fascist group for years. He is a reformed character. Do people hold it against him now?

If you want to argue about the, he make plenty of gaffs now. His youth is not relevant.

In all fairness to the Panzer-Pope he did not have much choice. There was a lot of pressure on teen age boys to join the Hitler Jugend. I don't think Benny 16 is a Nazi, but I don't think he is all that well disposed toward Jews. The late Bishop Roncalli (Pope John 23) risked his life to get Jews out the the clutches of Nazis, where as his boss Pope Pius 12 made deals with the Nazis to gain some advantages for the Church and Catholics. I put Pius in the same class as Judas Iscariot.

Superficials are barely a fair comparison between these guys though - Carol Wotija had the Reagan advantage of being an actor prior to his Popehood, and he called on that skillset both fluently and regularly.

No, he's just out of *censored* mind. There are no 'evil' people.

Good and evil does not exist.
