Even though this might turn out to be a short sighted move with many unintended consequences at least it was pushed through at the state level and only hurts Mississippi.

There are people who want to take it to a national level if it passes in ol' Miss.

If other people like this then try it in their own state

But they don't want it to stay at the state level - they want it to go national.

That would be just plain wrong.

Funny how often people who see the world in black and white are so often wrong.

The results are in, and the amendment was rejected by 58%! Needless to say, I was surprised. If Personhood, U.S.A., can't even win Mississippi, then they might as well throw in the towel right now before they waste anymore money.

Kudos to the voters.

However, I doubt we have heard the last of this as the Evangelical Bloc probably has another trick up their sleeve.

This scare tactic was already debunked unless you are considering abortions to be birth control.

This has no affect on the morning after pill or things of that nature.

Actually the Mississipi law isn't affected by Roe V. Wade, and is in fact the achilles heel of Roe v. Wade.

Also this would make only some contraceptives illegal, it doesn't make all contraceptives illegal.

what makes this (failed) proposition "the achilles heel of Roe V. Wade?"

That is sooo stupid. It is bad enough the Bush sr. admin. pushed for abstinice only sex education and teen pregancy rates got much higher as a result.
Canada has a very comprehensive sex ed program and a much lower teen pregnancy rate.
Teen pregnancy is a big problem because it is a factor in lifetime poverty for the mother, sometimes the father too if they are forced to marry, and children born to early teen mothers (12-16) often have low birth weight and some other health problems.

But Banning birth control?!? Has anyone seen what the catholic church did to 3rd world countries by convincing them that birth control is a sin. The fastest growth explosion of humanity is in 3rd world countries, thanks to the pope.

When we in the US are struggling to provide for what population we have in the US due to finacial crises, and MIssisippi wants to take away the brakes on reproduction?? WHAT!! Have They Lost Their Minds!!
If anything, they should be handing birth control out on the streets.
