Funny how when other countries do not want Trump to visit, it is "right on good for them!"
But when Trump does not want to visit, it is "how dare he that is just so f*****g rude!"

You kids are hilarious. I mean that sincerely. I get such a laugh out of so many threads.

Trump WAS rude in this case. I have no doubt in that.

He wants to buy Greenland. Denmark doesn't want to sell. Trump throws a tantrum, says to Denmark "I ain't your friend no more."

Trump is being a bully by telling Denmark that he's trying to "protect" him. I've had bullies tell me the same thing when I was in school. I know bullies very well.

You know what? The United States did actually buy parts of Mexico after the Mexican War in 1948 LOL

They paid $15 million dollars for most of the present-day United States west of the Great Plains.

They paid a similar amount, called the Gadsden Purchase, for a somewhat smaller amount of land in present-day Arizona and New Mexico.

Sounds like they need to buy the whole country. That would solve everything, and he could spend the immigration / wall budget on helping Mexican Americans.

Wouldn't that be just swell?

But, nah.....he's going to say that Mexico is a sovereign country---and that he doesn't want their problems.

This isn't about meeting the Queen, this is about important business for the NATO alliance. There's a huge difference.

There was a "meeting the Queen" situation----but that doesn't matter.

Trump is playing kindergarten games.

This is not going to sit well with his NATO allies.

Greenland is about the same size as Mexico.

Whenever I look at a world map those are the first two places I always look at to see which kind of map it is:the kind that distorts distance in order to preserve accurate size, or the kind that distorts size to preserve navigation distance.

If Greenland looks as big as the whole continent South America (in realty twice the size of the contiguous US) you're looking a Mercator projection that exaggerate the sizes of places near the poles, but shows accurate distances.

If Greenland is only the same size as Mexico (ie 30 percent as big as the US) then you know you're looking at an accurate size, but distorted distance map.

+++++++++++++++

Buying Greenland might hurt Trumps Evangelical base because Greenland is famous for fossils. Especially those of creatures like "Tiktaalik": a missing link between fish and four footed land vertebrate animals. That would make Greenland the most UN holy of lands to YECs I would think.

Greenland has approximately 70,000 more square miles in area than Mexico---but they are very close.

Mexico: 762,000 square miles

Greenland: 836,000 square miles

Mexico has much more arable land, though (obviously).

To buy Mexico, Trump would probably have to pay at least 3 trillion dollars. Their Gross National Product is above 2 trillion dollars.

Might be part of Putin's master plan. He's already been doing his ventriloquist act with Trump calling for the dissolution of NATO.

I feel like there are people who see Greenland's strategic importance in a military sense, and Trump felt like he wanted to heed their advice.

I feel like he believes that a "hostile takeover" of Greenland would be a great coup for the United States.

Truman I believe wanted Greenland for strategic location. 360 divided by 8 want it for other reasons. Can anyone name the reasons.

And perhaps lose our allies. But then again, that's probably what Trump's boss wants.

360 divided by 8 is 45. That's 1/8th of a circle. Truman wanted to buy it around 1945-1946. I suspect for similar reasons that Trump wants to guy it: Strategic military importance and lots of untapped mineral wealth. Maybe some oil might be discovered there, too.
